Hi ! I've got a problem with the combo-query .. There are three server with the same running service, and if only one goes down i want to got an alert my: combo.cfg afssrv.afsfs = (afs\-node\-1.afsfs && afs\-node\-10.afsfs && afs\-node\-11.afsfs) == 3 but the check gives me an alert /usr/lib/xymon/server/bin/xymoncmd combostatus --no-update status afssrv.afsfs red Wed Dec 28 22:02:50 2011 (afs\-node\-1.afsfs&&afs\-node\-10.afsfs&&afs\-node\-11.afsfs)==3 =(1&&1&&1)==3 = 0 &green <a href="/xymon-cgi/svcstatus.sh?HOST=afs-node-1&SERVICE=afsfs">afs-node-1.afsfs</a> &green <a href="/xymon-cgi/svcstatus.sh?HOST=afs-node-10&SERVICE=afsfs">afs-node-10.afsfs</a> &green <a href="/xymon-cgi/svcstatus.sh?HOST=afs-node-11&SERVICE=afsfs">afs-node-11.afsfs</a> although all three servies are up and green ... Per Source Bandwidth Monitoring

Hello all, I am trying to setup a custom graph in hobbit to track bandwidth utilization on a per source basis. I can obtain the total bytes transmitted for each source from /proc/net/ip_conntrack, but I'm not sure how to setup the graph definition. I've been following all of the steps in the hobbit documentation, included with the install, under 'howtograph' and am now at the part labeled 'Setup a graph definition.' How should the graph definition be defined? Since I wish to track bandwidth via source, I'm faced with a variable number of source, value pairs. In the graph definitions I have looked at, you always need to define the data you wish to display, but how do you do this if you do not have this information in advance? Thanks.

Alert.cfg PAGE directive

Hi, Setting up alerts for the OPS, so I added these lines to alert.cfg $OPSHOSTS=&(host1|host2|host3|host4|host5) HOST=$OPSHOSTS PAGE=OPS SCRIPT /usr/local/xymon/server/ext/html_mail.pl ops at example.com<mailto:ops at example.com> FORMAT=PLAIN REPEAT=900 RECOVERED We have many hosts but the OPS just monitor the PRODUCTION ones. And they also got just a subset of tests. This page is defined in hosts.cfg page OPS OPS group-only cluster|app_test|oracle_test|conn|cpu|disk|procs Production 10.0.0.1 host1 10.0.0.2 host2 10.0.0.3 host3 10.0.0.4 host4 10.0.0.5 host5 This seems to work quite well except that the alert.cfg PAGE=OPS alerts on any alert on any of the hosts on that page. It doesn't alert on other hosts so that works. ex. They get alerts on msg but that is not defined as a test in the group-only directive on the OPS page. It confuses them a lot because they get an alert mail but their page is still green... I thought PAGE should only alert on the group-only tests defined in hosts.cfg. Grouping of Hosts

How can I group hosts in different views with the current version? In the older version I did it this way: envpage servers MyServers envsubpage linux Linux envgroup Production envgroup Testing envsubpage Windows Windows envgroup Production envgroup Testing This would create two page, a Linux Page and a Windows Page and group the servers on those pages by Production or Testing. On the host line, i'd do this: 192.168.2.1 linux1 # ENV:linux,1 192.168.2.3 linuxp # ENV:linux,2 I could also use this to put a server in more than one category, for example, a Linux Server that is also a database server. 192.168.2.4 linuxd # ENV:linux,1 ENV:database,1 Is this still supported in the current version or is there another way to do it? Default Graph SIze

I'm doing a new installation of xymon. Everything is working great, but I'm in the process of configuring and could use some assistance, so you might see a few more posts from me. Is there a way to have the graphs on each default to a different setting? As an example, when looking at cpu, instead of a two day graph have a one hour graph. Is there a global setting? Thanks, JW

XYMON - corrective measures?

It would be nice to have some way to have XYMON do 'corrective measures' for an alert. example: if Apache was hanging yet the connection to a client system was OK, to log on with ssh and restart Apache2. is there a way to implement this easily? TIA!

Anyone using OpenTSDB for metrics storage?

Has anyone out there done work with OpenTSDB as a metrics storage engine (RRD, but better and cloudier)? Writing up another worker module seems like it would be easy enough, and I'm looking at a potential holiday project here. -jc

https & noconn disable

I'm monitoring a website within our building which does not allow icmp. The http test works fine, but I'm trying to disable the connectivity test. In the hosts.cfg file i put the following: 192.168.50.2 myhost # noconn http://www.myhost.com also tried 192.168.50.2 myhost # noping http://www.myhost.com Neither one works. Am I missing something? I'm not sure when the changeover occurred - it might be hobbitdboard instead of xymondboard: server/bin/hobbit localhost "hobbitdboard host=server.domain.comtest=who fields=msg" Look in the man pages for the xymon/hobbit communications program. I want to be able to monitor if a certain user is logged in at the console on a server and flag red if it isn't.
