Hi All Can you please explain if this entry is correct in the analysis.cfg file. I want to ignore alerts from /cdrom filesystem. PROC test

I got this in my analysis.cfg HOST=host01 PORT LOCAL=%[.:](22) STATE=LISTEN min=2 "TEXT=SSH listener" PORT LOCAL=%[.:](22) STATE=ESTABLISHED min=0 max=10 color=yellow TRACK=ssh "TEXT=SSH logins" DEFAULT # These are added defaults # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h LOAD 30.0 40.0 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 70 80 MEMACT 90 97 LOG /var/adm/messages "%WARNING|ERROR" COLOR=red #LOG /var/adm/messages "%NOTICE" COLOR=yellow PROC sendmail PROC inetd PROC cron CLOCK 10 But the PROC test is still white for host01 saying PROC is not defined. But if I add PROC like this HOST=host01 PORT LOCAL=%[.:](22) STATE=LISTEN min=2 "TEXT=SSH listener" PORT LOCAL=%[.:](22) STATE=ESTABLISHED min=0 max=10 color=yellow TRACK=ssh "TEXT=SSH logins" PROC xntp Then it goes green and show PROC for xntp as expected but even the default ones sendmail, inetd,and cron Looking in the history it seems that it goes back and forth between green and white displaying default procs as OK even in the white history. The it doesn't show the text PROCS are not defined as it did when I looked at it before adding the HOST section. Really funny, Why do I need to add the HOST entry to get the DEFAULT PROCs working? Running 4.3.5 on Solaris 10, clients and server. - Roland

XyMon System Requirements

Hello, Currently I'm managing a XyMon server which consists of around 5,000 devices. We are looking to keep continually adding more and more devices to it as time goes on. The issue is our system is currently always using max system resources we keep allocating to the server. BTW devmon seems to be the highest system resource hog. Stats: About 5,000 devices XyMon 4.3.0-0-beta2 DevMon 0.2 4 CPU(s) 16 GB RAM Suse Linux Enterprise 10 (32-Bit) 300GB Enterprise SAN Storage - Fiber Channel - (3 Years of archived data stored) Do it do me any good to give the system more resources? CPU(s) or RAM? What is the experience that other users have with monitoring this many devices? What system configurations are you using to support this many monitored hosts? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I was wondering what options we have before making any big decisions. Matt

Purple alerts

Hi, I'd like to be able to have more control over purple alerts. I know Henrik has added a new parm into xymonserver.cfg called STATUSLIFETIME but that seems to be a global parm. What I'd really like to do is reduce the purple time for devmon to 5 minutes less than the global. This would enable me to detect devmon going purple and trigger the restart script without having all the snmp monitored devices (we have about 10) going purple as well. Top Menu -- Wrap Around

I added some additional menu items on the top bar, which looks really good, but I was wondering is there a way to stop the menu bar from doing a wrap around? I want them to stay static. JKW

Hello, I am working on a script to configure alerts to notify different groups when a specific filesystem gets too full. For example, if mount point a gets 100% full notify group b If mount point b gets to be 100%, notify group b. Here is what I have so far. hello here is a quick script to show your device on an openstreet map. Just add a geo:(latitude,longitude) tag run the script and it's ok. New Installation, Incorrect URL for graphs

I just did a new installation and everything is working, except for the graph location URL at the bottom of the page. Is the URL compiled within the code? Here's what I get: http://myhost/xymon/cgi-bin/cgi-bin/showgraph.sh?host=........ I didn't put the rest of the URL. If I cut and paste the URL, and remove the second cgi-bin, I see the graphs. I need to get rid of the second cgi-bin. Where is it getting it from. Here's what I have in the xymonserver.cfg XYMONSERVERCGIURL="cgi-bin" XYMONSERVERSECURECGIURL="cgi-bin" What I did do, was create a cgi-bin directory under xymon/server/www directory, so I could put all the xymon software under a single directory. I modified the httpd.conf file to reflect this. So, everything works, except the graph at the bottom of each page is not there, and it's trying to add the second cgi-bin directory structure in the path. Thanks, JW
