Hi ! since some weeks, i've got a really poor performance, when i want to see graphs on the test-page or in trend-page .. I'm running xymon-4.3.7 ... Should msg red go green after 5 minutes or 30? And a workaround

Had a situation last weekend where we had a critical red alert for "msgs" - and it went green after less than 5 minutes. We all expected that it would stay red for half an hour. This particular server is monitoring both /var/log/messages and /var/log/otherlog and the red was triggered by /var/log/otherlog. Thoughts? Should this have stayed red longer? Is there possibly an issue when monitoring two files, if one stays green? Meanwhile, I put in a hacky little workaround to make sure that we never EVER miss a red on this server's logs: In alerts.cfg: HOST=%hotserver.* SERVICE=msgs SCRIPT /usr/local/scripts/touchred REDalert FORMAT=TEXT /usr/local/scripts/touchred just calls "/bin/touch /home/xymon/REDALERT" and then I have in analysis.cfg: HOST=%xymon.* FILE /home/xymon/REDALERT red NOEXIST MTIME>30 That's going to stay red *forever* until someone goes and manually deletes /home/xymon/REDALERT (plus for extra fun, BOTH alerts page. We are not going to miss one of these again)

TS - Graphs are dots no lines connecting them?

I am running Xymon 4.3.0-0.beta2 on a Dell R-610. I have been running this server for almost 3 years. Do I need to upgrade Xymon? Or is it RRDTOOL? All assistance is appreciated! J All of the graphs are showing as multiple dots without anything connecting them. If you are in html viewing, I am including a copy of one of the graphs. Having some issues getting email alerts to come

Hi folks. It's been quiet on the list so I thought I would start a new thread ;) I've been googling this and trying to get it to work from the man pages the last few days. I started to try and clean up alerting and emails in our environment from xymon. I just want to get email alerts for CPU, Mem, and Disk from any host we have and send it to a single email group, but am not getting any emails even though the hosts are showing red alerts on the xymon web pages. Here is what I put in analysis.cfg host=* TIME:W:0800:1600 #Setting for this rule is the value to watch LOAD PROC CPU DISK etc DISK * 90 95 GROUP=SRMINFRA LOAD 8.0 12.0 GROUP=SRMINFRA PROC cron GROUP=SRMINFRA DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h LOAD 5.0 10.0 GROUP=SRMINFRA DISK * 90 95 GROUP=SRMINFRA MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 Here is what I put in alerts.cfg #Macro definition $SRMINFRA=SCRIPT /home/xymon/server/ext/html_mail.pl srm_infrastructure at domain.com FORMAT=TEXT #Rule and Recipient for all host cpu disk mem proc alerts SERVICE=cpu,disk,mem,proc TIME=W:0800:1600 RECOVERED $SRMINFRA Any guidance appreciated. critical list file

So last night I moved one of our applications from one machine to another. Thus changing which machine is critical. I hand edited the critical.cfg file and then wondered if it would get re-read. I decided to play it safe and restart xymon. Was that necessary? Master/slave server configuration.

I am trying to setup a Xymon master/slave configuration. Is it possible to set them up so that we only get alerts from the master, unless that is down, and then get them from the slave server? And if so, could you provide a document and an example of the configuration.
