client tests not showing up

I'm having an odd problem with my client tests. I am using the same client, built and tarred for each of my OS versions, and then tarred out and started on each of my servers. I'm just using the default reports (cpu, disk etc). Some of my servers are reporting fine, but others are not reporting at all. I have confirmed that I can telnet to port 1984 on my xymon server from all of these servers. I'd like to keep everything on list as much as possible. I just installed this http://communities.quest.com/docs/DOC-5588 on Win7 64 bit. Connects to my 4.2.3 just fine (I use http auth in the URL). installation - configure -rrdtool not found

Trying to install xymon-4.3.7. No doubt simple, but, on a SLES11 box, rrdtool is installed (/usr/bin/rrdtool). A couple other rrd named files as well. But configure does not find it. The suggestion to include command line items (I think it is tellling me that) is not clear to me. Guidance appreciated.

Dir monitoring

2 Problems with monitoring DIR I am trying to monitor the log directory of MQ. I have two types of primary and backup systems. On the primary system I want to monitor /backup/local/mq. On the backup I want to monitor /var/mqm/log/*/active The hosts names are formatted "LAB01" for primary systems and "LAB01_2" for backup. In my client_local.cfg file I have: [linux] log:/var/log/messages:10240 ignore MARK dir:/backup/local/mq dir:/var/mqm/log/*/active in my analysis.cfg file I have: HOST=%LAB\d\d$ DIR /backup/local/mq yellow SIZE<250000 TRACK=Backup HOST=%_2$ DIR /var/mqm/log/*/active yellow SIZE<14000 TRACK=Backup Problem #1 - the DIR check on /var/mqm/log/*/active fails. "Could not determine size of directory". However, if I click the link it says: [dir:/var/mqm/log/*/active] 49240 /var/mqm/log/QA_POSLAB05_QM/active Problem #2 - Even though I'm only specifying the DIR check of /backup/local/mq on LAB01 systems, it appears to be running on LAB01_2 systems. Though this may not be the case as the history chart is not showing any data. -- Michael Beatty

HI Larry. Thanks for the tips. I've modified it and actually found an error on the email address in the alerts.cfg file. In the macro definition, there was a double @domain.com – eg where it said html_mail.pl srm_infrastructure at domain.com<mailto:srm_infrastructure at domain.com>@domain.com That must have got stuck on there when I was editing the file with nano and doing some cut/paste operations. In any case, I'm getting all kinds of email now. Problem with xymongraph

Dear xymon team, I have a problem with the xymongraph. If I click the graph button I receive the message at a new page "I don't understand ': 04-Jun-2012 16:16:26' in command: 'COMMENT:Updated: 04-Jun-2012 16:16:26'. " I do not know how to interprate the message. I followed the instructions on http://www.xymon.com/xymon/help/howtograph.html but with no graphical success. Out of my view it looks that xymon works with exeption xymongraphs. rrdtool version 1.4.5-10.1.4 is installed an works My question is could you please give me a hint what the message stays for and where I should search to get xymongraph running.
