Cannot add a trends graph!

I've spent way too much time trying to figure this out. I've read, re-read, and re-re-read a variety of documentation over and over again trying to get this to work. Help! I wrote a script to collect data. I'm sending it to Xymon (v4.3.12) with something like the following: "${XYMON}" "${XYMSRV}" '@' <<-EOT data ${MACHINE}.trends [${RRDNAME}.rrd] DS:cnt:ABSOLUTE:600:0:U ${CNTVAL} DS:pct:GAUGE:600:0:100 ${PCTVAL} EOT Even without any special configuration in *xymonserver.cfg*, the data is accepted by the Xymon server and recorded in the expected RRD file. *rrdtool dump* on the file shows what I'd expect to see. I created a *graphs.cfg* config for the data. I can view a graph of the data using *showgraph.sh*. According to all the documentation I can find, to add the graph to the (client) machine's trends column, I need to add the graph name to the *$GRAPHS* definition in *xymonserver.cfg*, which I've done. I've then restarted *xymond*. But the graph doesn't show up in the trends column. Just in case, I also added the graph name to the *$TEST2RRD* definition in *xymonserver.cfg*, then restarted *xymond*. Still no graph in trends. Added "=ncv" after the graph name in the *$TEST2RRD* definition and restarted *xymond*. No good. Added the graph name to the *TRENDS* option in the client machine's *hosts.cfg* entry. No good. In all cases, I restarted *xymond* using *service xymon restart*. I'm tailing *~xymon/log/*.log* while doing all of this and seeing nothing that would indicate a problem with the graph definition or *xymonserver.cfg* . CAS and xymon

I am running xymon on a Ubuntu server and apache2. I would like to place it behind CAS so I can better handle the access to the server. I have the mod_auth_cas package installed and I have configured the conf file in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/auth_cas.conf I tried pointing the www directory to /var/www and /opt/xymon/server/www Either way I do not get prompted for authentication. I am not sure what I am missing. Scott A. Dyer

Downtime syntax check (4.3.17)

In the hosts.cfg, DOWNTIME can specify times when bad results should be ignored rather than acted on. The syntax documents two forms: DOWNTIME=day:starttime:endtime[,day:starttime:endtime] DOWNTIME=columns:day:starttime:endtime:cause[,columns:day:starttime:endtime:cause] The first form behaves as expected. The second form does not. When the *cause* portion contains more than one word, it must be enclosed in double quotes. When this is done, the subsequent portions of the line are not interpreted correctly. For example, this works: DOWNTIME=http:60:*:*:"No weekends" but only the first piece of this works: DOWNTIME=http:6:*:*:"No Saturday",http:0:*:*:"No Sunday" I've tried commas and semicolons as the field delimiters. Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong, or confirm that they see the same behavior? -- Do things because you should, not just because you can. Hi, Sadly that option wasnt available on the file (even shift-right-clicking the msi-file) - but I suspect that's the culprit somehow. Several yellow alerts on nongreen.html page, acknowledge alerts lists none

I have seen a curious behavior that I think might be a bug. Currently I have several servers with a yellow status for the cpu test. Each of these machines were recently rebooted, so the yellow status is correct, and I know that yellow statuses will stay yellow for several more hours. I would like to acknowledge these alerts to stop the distracting blinking yellow icons and show the static yellow check mark icon instead. >From the nongreen.html page, choosing Administration --> Acknowledge alert brings me to the acknowledge.sh page which says "No active alerts" instead of displaying the form with each non-green host/test listed and the ability to acknowledge multiple hosts. If I click on a yellow cpu icon from the nongreen.html page, and then Administration --> Acknowledge alert I have the form to acknowledge the yellow cpu alert as expected. However, there are to problems with this. First, with a large number of non-green hosts/tests, I would have to go back and choose each test manually and individually to acknowledge it Second, I have no red alerts in the system, but when I om on the acknowledge.sh page, the background is red Any ideas? Am I misunderstanding how this works? Does it only work on red statuses? Why is the background for the acknowledge page red when there are no red alerts in the system Thanks for any help. test ssh domain name instead of IP

Anyone know how to test ssh using a domain name instead of an IP? I'm using the rclient and monitoring NAS devices that are remote and behind port forwarded DHCP home routers that have DDNS names so I have 0.0.0.0 for the host IP's in the hosts.cfg file. I just want to test ssh to the DDNS name, not the IP. The NAS host line in my hosts.cfg is not using a FQDN as the hostname because that gets checked as a separate host. Where to put client extension state files?

I've written a client extension script that wants to maintain state between runs, essentially to know where it left off after the last run. Where is the "proper" place to keep such state files? If you want a customised header only for your TV display, and not for other views, you can create a different pageset (template). See the man pages for xymonweb and xymongen for more details. J

Greetings, I have my xymon nongreen.html displayed on a television in the IT room -- it is a great indicator when something turns red because it is so noticeable. On the top of the page, it says "Current non-green Systems". How can I change that and make it stick? usaims Washington D.C area
