How do we change the "Current non-green Systems" retention?

Hi, We are trying to change the default retention from 240 minutes (4 hours) to 3 days. I've searched through the documentation without any luck. I'm sure it's a simple setting it's just a matter of knowing where to find it. Can someone please help. We are running xymon 4.3.2. Hey, I'd swear Xymon can do this but I'm having a hell of a time finding it in the help. I seem to recall that you could add an alias in the alerts.cfg file that would allow you to set up a list of user groups that you then use in your alert rules. I don't _think_ it's the macros but similar. For example, alias group1 bob at example.com mary at example.com HOST=www.foo.com MAIL group1 SERVICE=http REPEAT=1h This would email Bob and Mary. Anyone else recall this and can point me to the right man page? thanks =G=

(Top posting due to encoding strangeness) Hi Ian, Unfortunately, the routine which calls this is used in a number of different locations so it might be hard to track down w/o more detail. Approximately what interval does the message occur on when you leave the session open? The bulk of the calls to this IIRC are dealing with log file output, and usually involve reopening both stdout and stderr, so it's most likely log related. Even in 4.3.17, xymonlaunch should be redirecting the stderr output to a designated LOGFILE entry in tasks.cfg and/or clientlaunch.cfg; I'd check either of those for any non-disabled tasks that don't have a LOGFILE entry and add one in. That should either a) solve the problem, or b) redirect the re-open error into an appropriate destination, since the initial reopen is done by xymonlaunch prior to forking. reopen_file: Cannot open new file: Permission denied

When my xymon 4.3.17 server starts up, it runs fine and does irt job as expected... ... except that if I leave the session open that I started it on I see periodically this line repeated twice "reopen_file: Cannot open new file: Permission denied" I can;t work out what file it is trying to re-open and why therefore find out why its permissions are wrong. I've had a shufti at the ..../server folder and nothing is leaping out as the "wrong" ownership ... what I do see is then ...../server/www/snap, ....server/wwww/rep have a group ownership of apache and everything below it is apache:apache but that is presumably tied up with the apache web server that presents xymon to the world so not likely to be it presumably. the only other place I thouht of was /var/logs/xymon but the user can create a new file OK in there. noprop behaviour

Hi, I think the behaviour of nopropyellow and nopropred should be fixed. Currently (4.3.21) tests specified with noprop will propagate to the nongreen page if any other tests on the same host are alerting. Is this how it is intended to work? I would prefer if they never propagated, regardless if any other tests are alerting. What do you think about this? Regards, Johan

Upgrade woes

Ok, I'm sure I'm missing something covered but I can't find it. I just updated to 4.3.27 (from 4.3.21) and suddenly several of my https tests are returning a 403 whereas prior to the upgrade they worked fine. I don't see anything obvious in my logs. Has anyone else hit this? If so, how did you fix? I've tried forcing the tests to use tls, etc to no avail. Also, my 301 messages are coming in yellow...this is niggling something in my memory but I can't grab it. =G=

NCV RRDs

Hey, I don't know why I keep tripping over this...I'm trying to create some new graphs but the RRD files aren't being created properly (SPLITNCV). I have the following definitions: GRAPHS_threads="threads" TEST2RRD="...,threads=ncv" SPLITNCV_threads="*:NONE,total:GAUGE,consumed:GAUGE" This is what is returned in the message that I care about: Current thread usage  etc. This aligns with my other configs (*:NONE is new) but I'm not getting the rrds created as separate rrds and I am getting a LOT more inside the RRD than just the 3 I would expect based on the incoming data. The output it's parsing has a LOT of colon separated entities but I set up a sed filter to force ':' to ':'. It seems like Xymon is parsing the encoded colon just as it would a normal colon. Has anyone else gotten this to work? thanks =G=

Couple of hosts stuck in purple after rename

Hello, Xymon list, I have a problem. I renamed 2 hosts in xymon, following the usual procedure (rename them in hosts.cfg then use the xymon rename command to move the history). I've done this before without problems, but this time something went wrong. First, the two hosts disappeared from all pages. I restarted xymon server, and they came back, but with all statuses stuck in purple. The data is being received and updated properly, the status is green on the detail page, but remains purple on the summary page. I have a feeling that removing the temp files and restarting would fix it, but that resets too many other things, and I'm trying to avoid doing that. Any other ideas?
