still crashing

I still have a constantly red-then-purple hobbitd_client on my hobbit server. It's gotten to the point where i have a cron job dropping the test continuously. I would appreciate any insight as to why this started happening and what is causing it. Core was generated by `hobbitd_client'. Hi all, I thought I saw this question asked before, but did see it in the mailling list. When using bbcombotests, is it possible to have the combotest report with hyperlinks to the actual tests ? If I see one of the statuses are red or yellow, my nature instict is to wonder why, and be able to drill down for details. thanks, Steve

Hi, This (yellow) warning is logged: Latest errormessages: BOARDBUSY locked at 1, GETNCNT is 0, GETPID is 1941630, 1 clients I have the same error in hobbitd.log. And on the bbgen page: Error output: Whoops ! bb failed to send message - timeout hobbitd status-board not available WARNING: Runtime 166 longer than BBSLEEP (60) Any idea what this means and/or what I can do about it ? This box is also the mean backup server. This can sometimes cause a big load on the server. The box is also low on memory. Stef

Idea: Dynamic group- definition

I had a thought today about easing administration and restricting write access to the bb-hosts file. They are just thoughts, and not sure to the difficulty of implementation. Problem Statement: 1. I want to limit write access to the hobbit bb-hosts file. I do not want every person that can do a client install requiring write access to the file. If the bb-hosts file is corrupted/mistyped/etc, the entire server is affected. Thus I would like to refine accountability to a select few. But I also do not want to impeded the client installs with process/red tape. 2. Be able to define a group/group-compress/group-only/etc to a classname definition. so this grouping will automatically update it's members. Basically a dynamic group definition. So a scenario of performing client installs would be: 1. apply OS tar of client software on server. This tar would have a class definition of NEWCLIENT. 2. configure bb-hosts to have a page of unallocated/new client installs. basically a NEWCLIENT bucket. 3. configure alert rules to not send any alerts for the class definition of NEWCLIENT. 4. every week a bb-host admin would look into the NEWCLIENT bucket, and create the appropriate bb-hosts entry. Dynamic Class defined group buckets could be useful for other processes too.

Solaris 10 client not sending msg

Hello, I didn't find a solution in the known issues nor archives, that's why I pollute this list. I installed Hobbit 420 on my network with many unix flavours and windows, all of the clients work fine except those running Solaris 10. The <hobbitdir>/tmp/msg.mymachine.txt file is correctly created on the client side, but no information (except conn, info, ntp and trends) appears on the server side. The Hobbit server is running RedHat. Is there a trick about this particular Solaris10 platform ? Best regards. Checking for zombie processes

Is there a way for Hobbit to check for the existence of zombie processes on a client? That is, a process with no specific name, but in a zombie state. The PROC command seems only to be concerned with a process's name. Anyone using MrBig

hi all, is there anyone using MrBig windows client to be found here http://mrbig.365-24.se/ I'm using it for "basic" monitoring and it's ok, except because I don't see memory usage graphs, while the server is recieving memory usage report (to be seen on CPU page).
