Case sensitivity in bb-hosts service name

We're seeing the following behaviour in Hobbit version 4.1.2p1 on OpenBSD 3.8 GENERIC.MP#298 i386: A 'service' was created on an existing host using a lower case name, eg. xyz, by sending a 'status' event to the hobbit server. Subsequent status events are being sent using upper case 'XYZ', but being assigned to the history for the lower case service, 'xyz'. When searching for Reports->Event Log Report->Tests to match=xyz, the original (lower case) and subsequent (upper case) events are shown in the resulting events with the lower case name. A dot has been added to the bb-hosts config for a page using the service name 'XYZ', but the dot does not appear. When changing the name in the bb-hosts config to be 'xyz', the dot does appear. Unfortunately, for cosmetic and consistency reasons, we would like it to be upper case. It seems the case sensitivity is not being carried through to service name parsing in the bb-hosts file. Can someone advise if this is a bug or a known 'feature'? Also, suggestions are welcome for a workaround. We've tried using server/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "rename HOST xyz XYZ", also ... "drop HOST xyz", also ... "rename HOST xyz xyz-1". None of these seem to get rid of the 'xyz' service and allow us to replace it with an 'XYZ' service. thanks, Richard

or what is the criteria to be qualify enough to have write accesses on hb project sourceforge.net ? I am interested to become one. my sourceforge id is "tjyang". Installed hobbit-client on Solaris 10 for x86

Yesterday I downloaded Solaris 10 for x86 (I had an old HP Netserver LC3, on which I first thought of installing some Linux). After some installing of the OS, I downloaded Hobbit 4.2.0 an run configure, had to download pcre and then the makes worked. Then I tried to start the client. After 2 tries it started. I had to add some LD_LIBRARY_PATH's. I applied the allinone patch In total it was done in a couple of hours. Now I get: Failed to get a message, terminating Every fifth minute. I have the message files being emailed to folks on alerts. The problem is that it has the html code in it (See below) Is there a way to clean this up for better email alerting? I use cfengine to distribute my host files to my different machines. I have 8 machines. Having a database to manage configuration would be a mistake IMHO. Paul

More events (240 min -> 48 hrs) ? Relay from BigBrother?

Hi 1) Does anyone know how I could display all the events from the past 48-72 hours and a minimum of X events? The present 240 min list in "all non green events" does not present a very good overview over the last weekend on a monday morning... I just love to see the raw event list. It is surprisingly efficient tool. 2) How do I configure Hobbit to receive bbrelay messages from a BigBrother installation? I guess I need to create some sort of line in the Hobbits bb-hosts... CPU Utilization Not Correct or Averaging

We have a couple other monitoring tools here in-house; although Hobbit is catching on more. I've had questions about CPU Utilization, The charts don't seem to correlate with the other two monitoring tools. As an example, The other tools show CPU Utilization at 80% during a couple hours at night, and Hobbit shows 26% Utilization. Both the other Tools show 80% utilization during those hours, but Hobbit doesn't. I looked into this once before, and I know it depends on how the data sampling is being done. Any ideas on this would be helpful. Thanks.James
