Numbers lost in status report

Hobbit folk: Here is something interesting. I wrote a custom test today that sends over data in pretty much the same format as used in the other custom tests that I have written lately. Problem is that my numbers are getting lost! I even added trailing text and it arrives, but the numbers do not. According to my debug information, the numbers are being written in the status message that goes out the door, but when posted by the server on the status page they are gone. Any ideas on how to start to debug this? Solaris 8, Hobbit 4.1.2p1 GLH

Monitor/graph multiple interfaces with Hobbit?

Greetings. I am a newcomer to hobbit. I find it to be a very exciting project, but I cannot figure out how to perform a vital function. We currently have dozens of RRD databases and CGI scripts creating graphs on those RRDs. We also run BB for network health monitoring. I would like to combine the two using hobbit, but I am not sure how to go about it. Here's what I want to do: have a "traffic" monitor in hobbit that tracks any number of interfaces on a firewall or router. It would alert on a certain traffic threshold and would provide RRD graphs of the interfaces. I would like to avoid MRTG if at all possible. Is this kind of arbitrary RRD graphing/alerting available in hobbit? I've been through the docs and don't see anything. Thanks in advance. Try this, another member suggested it for me. Hi, Me again ;) How can I change the graphs that are displayed? I want to put 2 graphs on the memory page (the normal memory usage and the swap-in/swap-out). I know I can change TEST2RRD to change the graph per page, but I can only specify 1 graph. Same for cpu, I want to display the load and the "vmstat1" graphs. Stef

It would be nice to celebrate Hobbit's 1 year anniversary with a release including this. There will also be the new "Critical systems" view which is in the current snapshots. You can set DOWNTIME for individual tests, not just the whole server. This is already in the snapshots as well. Where do you have that installed ? Look for libpcre3.so* ... In the bb-hostsvc.sh put LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/directory/with/libpcre3*.so*/ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH before the call to hobbitsvc.cgi . [hobbit] Estimate for 4.2 release?

The March timeframe works great for me. I have a bunch of new servers going into production in May and that will give a month or more to work out any issues with 4.2 Thanks again for all the work. Hobbit Sensitivity lowered?

Hello, I switched from BB to hobbit about a month ago and have been generally happy. One thing that's "different" is that Hobbit seems to be more sensitive to services timing out, such as during an http check. I don't see anything in bb-services related to this, is there any global setting somwhere to permit me to allow a check to take a few more ms to respond before it's considered "red"? My bb2.html file is frequently red due to this, although it only lasts a few seconds. Is there an appropriate way to do this without hacking code and finding the timeout period? Thanks, --Chris
