[hobbit] Client log parsing (suggestion)

I was thinking the same thing about using the config parameter of the hobbit/bigbrother protocol. Only difference in what I was thinking was one large global file i.e. in the format of the bb-msgstab. Running only every hour is too long for me. [hobbit] bb-hosts "depends" with conn?

Hello Hobbit users, a few days ago i asked whether "depends" works with "conn"... The answer from Craig: why not, conn is a test like others. Happy with this prospect i tried to develop a testszenarion for this. Szenario: 2 machines with a remote ip-interface with a dependencie like machineA depends on machineB i tried the following 2 definitions in "bb-hosts" first: group <H3><I>Local-Test-Sun</I></H3><br> 1.2.1.1 machineB # 1.2.1.2 machineA # depends=(conn:machineB/conn) second: group <H3><I>Local-Test-Sun</I></H3><br> 1.2.1.1 machineB # 1.2.1.2 machineA # conn depends=(conn:machineB/conn) test: disable ip-inteface for 15min expectation: machineB --> red machineA --> clear result: both indicators show "red" is there a mistake in configuration from my side? (wrong brackets, column....) *** The present hobbit version: Hobbit Monitor 4.1.2p1 Thanks in advance Mathias

Hello Henrik, This is a not a request for a major feature, but it would be very welcome if this could be implemented in a coming version of Hobbit. I would like to see that, when I choose the find-option from the menu, the carret moves immedeately to the box where you can enter data. Just like the way google works when you enter www.google.com. You can start typing directly; with the current Hobbit-version you have to hit the TAB-button first. Thanks in advance, Peter

Bug: hobbitclient solaris 4.1.2p1 toggling uptime (green/yellow)

On my 4.1.2p1 Hobbit sles9 server the DEFAULT settings contain an UP-setting as follows in hobbit-client.cfg: ... # The special DEFAULT section can modify the built-in defaults - this must # be placed at the end of the file. DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h 70d LOAD 1.0 2.0 DISK /mnt 101 101 DISK /cdrom 101 101 DISK * 90 95 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 PROC cron 1 0 red On my Solaris Hobbit clients I installed the 4.1.2p1 version and regarding the UP-setting I expect each host more than 70days up to be yellow. However the history shows that some Solaris hosts are yellow/green toggling..!? It seems like a parse error, because the uptime-output on Solaris seems to differ with linux. Missing Legend in Graph

Hello Installed a full working copy at home everything is fine. (WhiteBox Linux EL 3.0) Installed samething at the office in similar environment, every thing is fine except Graphs. Data is collected ok in all graphs but without any Legend. Tried to rebuild all libraries, still does not work. Any hint on what could be wrong? cannot traverse to another network

i recently set-up a hobbit server using fc4. it is doing the monitoring quite well. the server is on a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx private network. and i monitor solaris clients on a 137.xxx.xxx.xxx public network. relevant facts: ** the server is able to ping the client. ** the client is able to ping the server. ** the compiled hobbit client software is in its basic form, no other add-ons. ** client is able to create vmstat.$PID on the directory $HOBBITHOME/tmp ** client is able to create msg.txt in the same directory. ** no logs indicate failure on both server and client problem: ** the hobbit webpage for the client is empty (justs a "-") except for conn and trends. what seems to be my problem. or any misconfigured file. any inputs and suggestions are very much appreciated. thanks and regards, great

First incoming from the mailing list are being blocked so I have to read the archive!
