Server side EXT script not running or appearing on web page

hobbit and bbmrtg.pl

Here's the rundown: -Debian Linux (new install as of about 2 weeks ago) -Big Brother installed and working for basic monitoring of network equipment -Hobbit installed and running for basic monitoring -mrtg installed, and running in cron every 5 minutes and I can tell it's creating rrd files where I told them to go -I added the blurb in hobbitlaunch.cfg from the pleiades.com website (after changing the directories to mirror mine... /home/hobbit...) -I ran cfgmaker using the template file and created the config file for mrtg that I'm running above I have no error messages in /var/log/hobbit/bbmrtg.log. I *do* have error messages in rrd-data.log and rrd-status.log that say this: <timestamp> tried to down BOARDBUSY: invalid argument The problem is, I'm not getting any graphs or links to graphs... where should they show up? I think I'm missing something *really* basic here. Should I be telling it to put the graphs in a certain place? Or the .rrd files in a certain place? I know how to move the rrd files around, but where do I tell it to move the graphs? Any help you can offer would be *greatly* appreciated. Hobbit HP-UX Depot

Greetings, Would there be any interest in a Hobbit .depot file for easy HP-UX install?? (if so, let me know and I will share with the rest of you) Also -- if you would like this, would you rather have it so that it was 2 separate packages -- server and client? And where do most people install Hobbit into (for example, I install the server to /usr/local/hobbit and I install the client into /usr/users/hobbit) Adam

modify disk graph

I would like to modify one of my disk graphs. On one host under "disk" there is two graphs. One graph has three file systems and the second graph has only one file system. 1) Is there a way that I can force the graphing to show the four file systems on one graph? 2) Can this be done on a per host basis? Henrik and Charles J., OK, that's great. I thought I was missing something in my config. And I will look at deadcat next for logging tools for the server side. In reading your replies, I just figured out the MSG.txt file. It is called from the procs column from a link at the bottom of that page. So that clears up my hobbitclient "no data from client" thought. Really, I just needed a slight kick from you guys to figure it out. Thanks for the quick responses. Msgs - No log data available

Hello Hob-sters, I have been testing my Hobbit server [4.1.2p1] for a number of weeks now. Its working great so far with my test criteria. I am wondering how do I fix the service "msgs" that continues to stay clear on my hobbit server. The status message is reporting the following: "No log data available; The client did not report any logfile data." All other tests are working. I am not certain if my platform is the issue but I am running Debian 3.1 (stable) and I have used the server 4.1.2pl1 .deb package from sourceforge. Do I need the hobbitclient .deb to fix this? Its not a huge issue but it is something I am trying to figure out. Its probably really simple to resolve but I just haven't found it. Sooo... Here's what I have looked at: Looking at the hobbitlaunch.cfg, the hobbitserver.cfg and hobbitclient.sh I can see and follow the scripts with the resulting tests to a file called msg.txt file created in $BBHOME/TMP but its not getting back to the hobbit display that is showing clear. ie: no log data... I have noticed a runclient.sh in the client folder but don't see where its launched or referenced in the cfg files at this point. Would this be the piece I am missing in my configuration? It appears to be producing the data but its not going to the display. So any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance for responding to my questions. PS. MySQL graphs

I've been playing with hobbit-4.1.2p1 for a week or so now, and have just spent the last couple of hours banging my head on the desk trying to get bb-mysqlstat to show graphs. Well, getting the reports through wasn't hard, and I could even get an empty link to show on the trends page by (mostly) following this advice: http://www.hswn.dk/hobbiton/2005/06/msg00268.html but I wasn't getting graphs... Anyway, to make a long story short, it looks like the [mysqlslow] and [mysqlthread] entries in hobbitgraph.cfg need to have YAXIS defined. With that in, I get graphs. Looking at hobbitd/hobbitgraph.c, it appears that where YAXIS is defined, it gets copied to newitem->yaxis (line 284), then that gets copied to rrdargs (line 890). I haven't had time to really read the whole file closely, but unless rrdargs is being checked somewhere, I'd guess that rrd_graph can't handle being passed an empty pointer for the yaxis label... This is a great tool, and if I can ever persuade management to switch from Big Brother... :) Ralph Mitchell

[hobbit] Anyone working on an NT client?

Well, among other things, I'd be a bit happier about the client myself if the company name weren't so prominently mis-spelled in the past two releases. I'm assuming that 'UEST' in this header is really supposed to be 'QUEST': Wed Dec 28 12:01:19 UEST 2005. Leads me to wonder a bit myself about the Q/C on the rest of the code.
