Thanks to all who responded to my last message... New problem: I've installed the Hobbit client on my Linux systems and it works wonderfully. However I have a number of Solaris 2.X servers on x86 platforms. The client compiles fine, and appears to be running, but none of the information is being reported to the server. I checked the client names, and there aren't any exceptions listed in the hobbitd report, so I'm assuming they names are right. Any idea how I can go about debugging this further? A correction to this: with pageset the config report script will not work I think. It work for the page I've also in the main bb files but if I have a page in the pageset not present in the main BB file it will not work. COLOR=yellow not recognized

Hello. Running Hobbit 4.0.4. In my alerts, I have the following alert: HOST=dclcore SERVICE=aaierr MAIL vhm at deltafaucet.com COLOR=yellow But, it doesn't recognize the COLOR=yellow. In the info column, it's just blank under the COLORS column and doesn't alert either. If I change it to COLOR=red, it shows red. COLOR=yellow,red shows red only. In the hobbitserver.cfg, I have: ALERTCOLORS="red,purple" # Colors to alert on. The command: ~/server/bin/bbcmd --env=/usr/local/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg hobbitd_alert --dump-config shows this: HOST=dclcore SERVICE=aaierr MAIL vhm at deltafaucet.com FORMAT=TEXT REPEAT=30 COLOR=yellow Has anyone had the same problem? I have used 'rdist' for many years to synchronize system. It is simple to use and comes already available on many systems. Network tests stopped graphing

For no reason that I can see, my network tests are no longer being graphed. I run tests for ldap, smtp and ssh. All tests on all hosts are working with no alerts being generated. Until about 2 days ago, there was a single graph available for each host that showed the response times for these three tests and the ping test. Now all the graphs show is the value for ping. This is only happening for some hosts (most). The rrd's have timestamps that would indicate they are being updated, an 'rrdtool dump' of one of the tcp rrd's shows that the values for all timestamps since the problem started are 0. No changes to the configuration have been made and as I mentioned, the actual tests are working. Hi Henrik. I think it would be nice to see the Acknowledgment Code on the page where the alert is shown so you don't have to look at the mails to get it. Or does it make more sense to acknowledge an alert only by persons who already have been informed about the issue? regards Christian

Newbie question

I hate to ask what appears to be such a 'newbie' question, but I'm stumped... I've installed hobbit on one of about a dozen servers. I've configured bb-hosts correctly and can see some basic status information about each host. What should I install on the other hosts so that I can see cpu information, disk space, etc? Do I need to install hobbit everywhere? Thanks!
