I have a (not so) silly presentation question : My server called 'keys' has 10 Oracle istances running on it: ORA1, ORA2, ..., ORA10. I would like to monitor all of them in the default page of my Hobbit display, the first 5 ones in the sub-page "Development / Team1", and the last 5 ones in the subpage "Development / Team2". Hello, I have just copied my old big brother data files (history and rrd) to a new hobbit 4.0.4 installation, it seems to work well except some problems with rrd file: - on all linux client the vmstat graph was empty, and the error message was: /dati/hobbit/data/rrd/blu/vmstat.rrd from 127.0.0.1: unknown DS name 'cpu_w' i have deleted the bigbrother vmstat.rrd, and the new one is correct. - on all AIX, linux and solaris client the netstat is empty. if i delete the rrd file, it is recreated on aix and linux (still empty however), but not for solaris. the log for linux machine: larrd-status.log:2005-07-06 14:39:34 RRD error updating /dati/hobbit/data/rrd/blu/netstat.rrd from 127.0.0.1: expected 13 data source readings (got 16) from 1120653574:102891:105479:0:17502925:398003:0:18201:0:U:U:U:U:40401904:26965995:U:453087:... for solaris machine: larrd-status.log:2005-07-06 14:42:09 RRD error updating /dati/hobbit/data/rrd/siebdbp/netstat.rrd from 127.0.0.1: expected 13 data sourcereadings (got 16) from 1120653729:4598699:4703299:0:917679:661345:601878:56101:429:3557031050:4281072706:1677389:801734229:2140806543:1738905102:1990:591967:... - on all windows client, the "memory" graph is always zero (not empty). how can i debug this situation? thanx -- Gianluca

Friends, When I was running bbgen I used to configurate the --purplelifetime=600 , I know that this is deprecated now, my question is if exists a way to reduce the actual 30 minutes purplelifetime ? Rgds, Mario.

Client stops reporting status, no purple

In Bigbrother, when the client software stopped reporting, the disk,cpu,msgs, etc.. columns would turn to purple after 30 minutes if it did not receive any updates. In Hobbit, the columns just turn into a - (dash). What setting do I need to put to make them turn purple when the Hobbit server doesn't hear from the client? Thanks, Michael

Is it me, or does badntp in the bb-hosts file not work? I have several servers running NTP, and they occasionally (several times a day) will lose their sync for a few minutes while they switch between higher stratum servers. It would be nice if hobbit wouldn't change to a "red" state.

I've found that some of the directives in hobbit-alerts have to be in some sort of order. I have had to play with the order of the directives until they were all recognized by hobbit on several occasions. I don't know if this is documented or not, but I find that putting the DURATION> directly after the e-mail address tends to work best. FYI COLOR seems to work best when it is last...
