We have some application processes that run at regular intervals or prescribed times every day that cause certain client resource services to alert such as cpu, procs, memory. These service hits are not critical issues during this prescribed time period, but might be any other time of the day. Other examples might include 100% cpu utilization during a database backup or a heavy batch process. Is there a way to define the equivalent of the DOWNTIME directive for an individual server (cpu, procs) instead of applying it to ALL services? If so, is this a server or client side configuration (bb-hosts or BB client)?

I'll leave the default as-is, but you can now customize it as you like by setting a NETFAILTEXT variable in hobbitserver.cfg. You can make it "FAILED", "NOT ok", "has gone belly-up", ... Henrik, If you don't see a problem with it, could you captilize "not" in the messages generated by bbtest-net.c? $ grep -nw "OK" bbtest-net.c 1602: strcat(msgtext, "OK "); 1620: strcat(msgtext, "not OK.\nThe "); 1628: strcat(msgtext, "not OK : "); 1635: strcat(msgtext, "OK\n"); 1675: strcat(msgtext, "OK\n"); I've had a few techs who only read the message body and not the subjet line and don't notice the "not" in "not OK" when the conn status is red. They see "OK" and think all is well.... I'm training them to read the subject heading first, but thought this might be minor change you'd like. Hobbit does not replace &color with image

Hello, I've found a problem with hobbit 4.0.4 including all available patches. The script I'm talking of is written for an old bb server with bbgen 2.16. I send the following to the server: &green item &yellow item &red item BB produces the expected output and places a green (or yellow or red) image in the generated html page. It replaces &green with the path and filename of the green image. Hobbit now behaves a litte bit strange. The &green is not replaced. No image is shown in the html page. Btw. bbgen 3.5 shows the same stra´nge behaviour. Can anyone explain to me what's wrong. Or has something changed in hobbit and bbgen? Thanks Thomas

I should have checked thisfile first : 2005-07-05 15:10:59 RRD error updating /var/lib/hobbit/rrd/baeva01/disk.rrd from 99.54.30.204: illegal attempt to update using time 1120569059 when last update time is 1120569059 (minimum one second step) The rrd were migrated from bigbrother using the moverrd.sh script. But I don't know why the upodate uses the same time than the last update time. What files do you have in the ~hobbit/data/rrd/HOSTNAME/ directory ? Do you have the disk status column on the Hobbit webpage ? Your status message does look a bit odd - the "Disk partitions on prdxxbk,mgen,fij" normally has the hostname with dots instead of commas. I wonder if this is just an old client, or there is some other oddity causing this. It shouldn't affect the graphs, though. Could you please include moverrd.sh in the rpm ?

Hi, I installed hobbit 4.0.4-1 rpm on a fedora core 2 to upgrade from a bb server, but I needed to decompress the source to have the moverrd.sh script. Could you please include the script in the rpm ? (the documentationindicates clearly the script is in the source archive, but it could be easier if it was included with the rpm). Nope! Hashed out the [larrdcolumn] and [infocolumn] sections. Had a look. Saw your shared mem segments. Didn't even look for semaphores. Decided a reboot is probably easier. Hobbit started on its own. It looked promising, and then after about 2 minutes, back to its usual crap. Green background.
