Hello Henrik, to measure performance data (Busy/Idle Servers) also for Apache 1.x servers not only for Apache 2.x i would suggest to include these small patches (made with "diff -uBbw") to hobbitd/larrd/do_apache.c and hobbit/server/etc/hobbitgraph.cfg This produces 2 additional data sources in the apache rrd (for busy servers and idle servers) --> inconsistency with existing rrd files On the display you see in apache1 graph "Busy/Idle Workers" and "Busy/Idle Servers" together. Alert code showing up as zero - 'Hobbit [0] sac-pdbs-01.mydomain.com:cpu warning (YELLOW)'

I may be missing a config step here... I am getting alerts that show up with zero for the numeric code. At the same time, I get the standard numeric code. See the examples below. Hobbit [0] sac-pdbs-01.mydomain.com:cpu warning (YELLOW) Hobbit [831423] monitor.mydomain.com:hobbitd warning (YELLOW) Hobbit [924556] monitor.mydomain.com:bbgen warning (YELLOW) Has anyone seen this before? Hello, Is it possible to have a history button (and eventualy the link to the current-rrd) on a page generated by bb-histlog.sh as it is on a page generated by bb-hostsvc.sh? It's nice to have if you click to a status page from the non-green view. Kind regards, Ivan Verbeeck

We have several servers here of various type that are primarily DB servers. MY DBA, asked if I could create a page for him with all the DB servers on it. Some of the machines are solaris and some are linux so they are primarily monitored by solaris and linux administrators and are on similar pages. So I created a page like this: page DB DB Servers group-compress <font size="+2">DB Servers</font> 0.0.0.0 lemond.tigr.org # noconn NAME:SYBTIGR since the DBA refers to the systems by the database names on each I was attempting to use the "NAME:" argument to change the display name. It does not seem to work unless it is on the primary or preferred line in the bb-hosts file though. The "COMMENT:" option also does not seem to work in this circumstance. Butch Deal

Custom RRDs

I have created a custom RRD script and it been working fine. Any host that sends a "license" column status with a line containing "In Use: x" will get the license usage (x) graphed. But, for some reason it won't work on a host I have that has a hostname of "license". RRD file gets created, but it's all "nan" values. Could having the exact same hostname, Dataset name, and column name cause it not to work? The only other difference in this host is it's a Windows machine instead of Unix, but the status sent to Hobbit is the same so I can't see that it would matter. BB with bbgen to Hobbit

Hi, I'm trying to migrate my production bb server to the hobbitd, I've follow all the steps in the Upgrading from Big Brother to Hobbit.htm. My bbvar have 3GB so I renamed bbvar to data , to avoid a loss of time and migrated rrds with moverrd.sh . Then I stop the bb server, start the hobbit and start the client of the server ,and restarted my apache. I've Waited some minutes and nothing happens. Have I missed something? Someone Have a tutorial how to use hobbit with the BBrelay until the final migration? regards, Mario.

When you start on a set of production servers, you put in an empty ".default." definition to clear the default set of tags, and when you start on a non-production set of servers, you put in a ".default." host with the "NOPROPRED:*" tag. The ".default." host must be called exactly that - with the two dots. It will not show up on the generated web pages, and you can only use it to define these Hobbit-internal tags - not network tests. Help with graphing

Hi all Any help appreciated here. I was trying to create a custom graph of database tablespace utilization. I left it for an hour, and came back from lunch hoping to find a lovely graph. No dice. All I get is a link to a graph, and the link gives me 4 (empty) links to the history graphs. No graphs appeared.
