Creating C# Script for Custom Alarm

Hi, My company used to use a VB Script to monitor ASP.NET Requests, but updating to .NET 4.5 will mess up your perf counters, which results in all data being displayed as 0. I have a C# script I want to use to use on servers by putting it in the ext directory of a local machine. I was wondering if maybe anyone had any resources I could use to see how to integrate my script into Xymon. Or maybe if someone has an example C# script that has been integrated with xymon. Xymon disruption every night!

J.C., I just stumbled across this thread from 2 months ago. We're having DNS glitches at my work and it's causing a flood of <hostname>:http "DNS error" alerts in Xymon, which is becoming a real problem. But here's what I don't understand. All of our HTTP-tested hosts are in the "hosts.cfg" file with their short names (instead of FQHNs). So I couldn't understand why DNS was involved since the IP addresses and names were right there in "hosts.cfg" for Xymon to use. Your response - specifically "unless the IP is specified there as well" - implies that there might be another location where I could load the names and addresses of our HTTP-tested hosts, to avoid this problem. (Yes, I know - hosts and IP addresses can change. But I'm in control of that so I can deal.) If this is the case, where is that other location where I can specify the short names/IP addresses for the HTTP tests? Thanks, - Greg

Apache webserver performance statistics

Hello out there, does anyone know a good way to monitor performance and / or statistics of an Apache webserver 2.4 and present the results to Xymon? Using mod_status together with the apache[=URL] tag in the hosts.cfg file "only" provides me with some simple graphs in the trend pages. I'm thinking about things like http requests per second, response time etc. Should be used on a webserver serving up to 15 virtual hosts. Monitoring file sizes

Hi all I'm trying to monitor some log files on Windows 7 clients. I have this in the analysis.cfg file: --- HOST=%client.* FILE "C:\users\user\Documents\ClientTiming*log" SIZE<500M yellow TRACK FILE "C:\users\user\Documents\ClientTiming*log" SIZE<1G red TRACK FILE "C:\users\user\Documents\ClientTrace*log" SIZE<500M yellow TRACK FILE "C:\users\user\Documents\ClientTrace*log" SIZE<1G red TRACK --- The files are displayed but regardless of the file size, the test stays green. I want the test to go red when the files exceed 1GB and yellow when greater than 500MB. Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thanks CC

Getting 500 Server error for criticaleditor.sh

I am trying to get the criticaleditor.sh to work. I looked in the error log and it is failing for too many redirects.The acknowledge script works and so does the enable/disable work but when I try to lod the Critical System editor I get the 500 Error. I looked at the configuration file for this and it is blank? Is there some special adjustment I need to make? ifstat numbers tracking 10Gb network performance incorrectly

Hi, We have been using xymon as a great tool for tracking various performance metrics across our environment, and being able to drill into historical performance data as a way to understand overall system performance. One of the things we've had difficulty with is the performance stats returned by the "ifstat" module, and specifically on 10Gbit ethernet interfaces. On xymon clients with 10G interfaces, sometimes the recorded metrics get clobbered and recorded incorrectly. At times when we know the server network activity is relatively high (e.g. 3+ Gbits/sec) the xymon ifstat charts might show only 110Mbit/sec. And further, while we know the activity is not constant, the charts are often very "flat" and appear capped at that level. It looks like an artificial cap, like the stats are being clipped at that level. It is as if xymon is mishandling the activity metrics that the client is returning. Or maybe the RRD modules that xymon uses? We are using xymon's default DERIVE types for the ifstat metrics, bytesSent and bytesReceived. I have traced the obytes64 and rbytes64 values returned by the client and they look sane, and match what other network tools on the client are telling us. But those values are are getting mangled somewhere between there and the graphs. Dumping the rrd files I can see the "PDP" (latest update) values there are correct (e.g. ~2e+09), but the "CDP" (5-min average) values are not (e.g. ~1.4e+07). How can that be? Why would RRD do that? Mysteriously, every so often the graphs seem to spring to life, and show reasonable values up above 1Gbit. And sometimes it happens around the time when we're tinkering with one network element or another. But after a while (~minutes to hours), they just as mysteriously revert back to the bogus "capped" values. (the RRD's CDP values reflect this as well.) Most aggravating, as it leaves us unable to believe these charts. So the rrd is _sometimes_ showing good data, but often not. We are working through the process of updating everything (xymon, rrdtool) to latest versions, but wondering if this might be a problem in our configuration that software updates alone won't fix Is there some well-worn advice out there about how to configure xymon to properly gather/store/chart network performance stats for 10Gbit networks, specifically the "ifstat" module? False red alerts

Hello, For the past two days, our xymon environment has been falsely reporting red for SSH and HTTP. It does seem to be random(happened one day at 10pm and two days later at 2:30am). It happens to every server all at the same time. Then a couple minutes later everything goes back to green. I've checked through some logs with no success. I'm not exactly sure if I'm looking in the correct places to find the answer. Any help/suggestions would be great! Content checks clear should be red

issue with standard graphs

I have xymon 4.3.26 installed and I'm seeing this messages in my logs: Bug - duplicate RRD data with same timestamp 1449091405, different data The result seems to be "choppy" graphs... Not a HUGE deal but irritating. Could it be a problem with rrdtool? 1.3.8?
