external script not working

My custom script is not reporting anything to the Hobbit Server. I'm running this script on the Hobbit server. I have placed my script in /usr/lib/hobbit/server/ext/b.pl. dynamic logfile name

Hello! I have an application that creates everyday a new logfile and I want to monitor it. The manpage for client-local.cfg says: The file:FILENAME line defines the filename of the file to monitor. As with the "log:" entries, a filename enclosed in backticks means a command which will generate the filenames dynamically. My question is: From what version on does xymon support this feature? I'm currently running 4.2.3. And can someone give me an example for the syntax with backticks? Thanks in advance! Oliver P.S. Xymongrep in 4.3.17 does not load local hosts.cfg

transform REMOTE_USER for display purposes?

There are those who have asked for a way to transform the REMOTE_USER variable when it's used for display purposes (like in the enadis.sh CGI program). This can be perhaps more desirable when client certs are used with +FakeBasicAuth; the rather long identifying strings then used in the xymonpasswd (or comparable) file are a bit ugly. AFAIK, Apache's mod_env will not modify standard CGI environment variables; so the CGI's would have to do it. If they checked if some optional RE was in a config file, they could use that to convert REMOTE_USER into something better suited to display than e.g. /CN=CAcert WoT User/emailAddress=johndoe at nobody.com (trivial example of what a free cert from CAcert might show up as); or there could be a file that just mapped REMOTE_USER values to display names. Overkill, or worthwhile? :-)

Confusion on Alerts

Hi Folks - I'm a little confused to why something is happening in my alerts config, so I thought I would ask for some help to clear up the confusion. I have a specific set of systems that I only want to alert on if the procs alarm is on for 30 mins or more, while my default is 6 minutes (1 more than the poller). So I have 2 things (well, for this, I have a whole lot more doing other things): # only alarm after 30 min machines HOST=%echo.*.domain.com SERVICE=procs MAIL $EMAIL_OPS DURATION>30m REPEAT=60m MAIL $OPS_PAGER_1 DURATION>30m REPEAT=10m COLOR=red STOP HOST=* MAIL $EMAIL_OPS DURATION>6m REPEAT=60m MAIL $OPS_PAGER_1 DURATION>6m REPEAT=10m COLOR=red I _THOUGHT_ that if the STOP keyword was in there, it would stop processing after that, but when I look in the web interface, I see this: procs bb-notice at domain.com 30m 1s - 1h - purple,yellow,red pager at domain.com,pagerbox at domain.com (S) 30m 1s - 10m - red bb-notice at domain.com 6m 1s - 1h - purple,yellow,red pager at domain.com,pagerbox at domain.com 6m 1s - 10m - red The lines after the first set are red (which makes me think it's pointing out bad configuration?). PCI 3.0 coming in 2015 requires the use of SNMP v3 which is not currently supported in devmon

Monitor service of windows server

Hello, I would like to know if you can help me, look my scenery is the follow: i have a linux centos server as xymon server, by other side have a windows 2008 server with xymon client, working as mode "local", then i would like to monitor a process, i'm using the follow entry in "analysis.cfg " o xymon server: HOST=hostname_server SVC OpenVPNService status=started startup=automatic PROC openvpnserv.exe SVC openvpnserv.exe status=started startup=automatic i want to check the openvpn process in this case, but not work, but the other health checks works as well. thank you very much.

NOTICE alerts sent only for DISABLE?

The documentation (in-file comments and man page) indicates the NOTICE keyword in an alerts.cfg rule will produce an alert "if the message is a 'notify' message (typically sent when a status is enabled or disabled)." notifications.log shows the e-mail going out when a monitor is disabled, but not when enabled, either through a manual enable or through a disable timeout. Is this expected/intended behavior? How do I get alerts for both disable and enable?
