xymonnet crashes adding a https test

Hi all, I'm facing a strange crash in xymonnet. I alrady have some https tests configured in hosts.cfg, but when I add the test for a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization manager web server xymonnet crashes. AWS elastic servers and xymon

Hi! Is there any cookbook for how to handle servers in AWS that get started shut down elastically form the xymon side - avoiding alerts and such? Essentially automatically "disabling" servers (maybe even a different colour/status to see why?) either on the client side on shutdown via agent or via a callback from AWS but automatically reenabling it when they start up again? Any experience? xymon server "could not load hostdata" issue

Hi, I'm facing an issue with the xymon server. I have setup a fresh installation of xymon 4.3.17 on a RHEL 6 box. I have only the server defined in hosts.cfg. The main page displays ok, but when I click on a "smiley" it just shows "Cannot load host configuration". The only solution I could find online was to restart the server but that didn't help. wrong pattern in graphs.cfg

Hi, xymon server 4.3.16 I just discovered a wrong FNPATTERN in graphs.cfg. We wondered, why our mailq graphs from "mailq.rrd" have not been displayed. After replacing the "+" in the mailq section of the graphs.cfg with a "*" it works: [mailq] # This handles "mailq.rrd", "mailqin.rrd" and "mailqout.rrd" - FNPATTERN ^mailq(.+).rrd + FNPATTERN ^mailq(.*).rrd Dirk

Does anyone know where a modern version of the network2.sh Xymon extension script (originally by Paul A. Luzzi) can be found please? Xymon performance scaling problems for Solaris zones?

Hi, all... We've been running Xymon (4.3.3 -- yes, old, old, old...) very successfully for the last several years in our environment, but have run into a performance snag recently. We run Xymon on all our Solaris zones -- up to 10 zones + the global zone, at a time. Recently we've started configuring new Oracle LDOMS (64 x SPARC T5-8 processors / LDOM) with > 20 Solaris zones / LDOM and we're seeing that after about 10 zones, Xymon starts to hog CPU in a non-linear way, making the zones unusable. Specifically, it's not any of the "Xymon" daemons, but it's all the concurrent "vmstat" and "iostats" that are racking up the CPU cycles. We understand we have several options available including instantiating processor sets and pools, ulimits, etc, but we wanted to know if: a) Anyone else has had to navigate this problem with such a large number of concurrent *stat commands b) Is it possible / advisable to monitor zones via Xymon using only a single instance of Xymon running in the global zone, or possibly a representative local zone? Hi Henrik, If xymond is started with the "--merge-clientlocal" option and returns more than one clientversion: lines then clientupdate on xymon client not works properly. ////According to the rule "host before class before os" the following modificationof xymonclient.sh would be correct: - SERVERVERSION=`grep "^clientversion:" $LOGFETCHCFG | cut -d: -f2` + SERVERVERSION=`grep "^clientversion:" $LOGFETCHCFG | cut -d: -f2 | head -n1` In the xymond manpage must be also "--merge-clientlocal" instead of "--merge-clientconfig". Hi The 'vpage' keyword in hosts.cfg can do this. Example is here: http://xymon.com/xymon/vert/vert.html The hosts.cfg is linked from the "Demo Site" menu. Hello XYMon gurus: I am new to XYMon and I need your help. We have a requirement that is not too much server to monitor but there is lots of information from that server (more than 200 columns). The webpage is difficult to scroll left-right. So I wonder if there is a way to switch the servers to column and information/data to row? So in this way the webpage will be easy to view since the webpage is easy to scroll up-down. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks Michael
