Does anyone have a good client install for monitoring HP-UX or OpenVMS? The HP-UX is my main concern and also I would have almost no idea of how to do the install of the client so any major help would be appreciated. Thanks as always.

Looking for Xymon clients for Solaris

I am looking to now tackle the Solaris systems, does anyone have either a HowTo or a compiled Solaris client for Sparc and x86? I am running 4.3.0-0.beta2 Xymon server and have the compiled client running on multiple CentOS systems. The Xymon server is on a CentOS server. Is there a good tutorial/HowTo that shows how to just compile a client or do you take the entire portion of the source tree and do a 'make' and 'make install', etc. ? I do not want to download the entire Xymon system and compile it unless I have to. If "testA" for the current host depends on "test1" for host "host1" and test "test2" for "host2", this can be defined with depends=(testA:host1/test1,host2/test2) When deciding the color to report for testA, if either host1/test1 failed or host2/test2 failed, if testA has failed also then the color of testA will be "clear" instead of red or yellow. Since all tests are actually run before the dependencies are evaluated, you can use any host/test in the dependency - regardless of the actual sequence that the hosts are listed, or the tests run. It is also valid to use tests from the same host that the dependency is for. E.g. 1.2.3.4 foo # http://foo/ webmin depends=(webmin:foo/http) is valid; if both the http and the webmin tests fail, then webmin will be reported as clear. Note: The "depends" tag is evaluated by xymonnet while running the network tests. I currently am finding that most of the dependencies I'd want are actually based on local tests... as in if I know a service is not running on a host, I don't need to get paged about the service also being unreachable. Alarms.cfg REPEAT=Minutes not working?

I am seeing in the Alarm.log file that my REPEAT value in alarms.cfg is not being picked up. :::Log::: 2012-09-24 18:52:16 Ignored unknown/unexpected token 'REPEAT=720' at line 122 Man pages says REPEAT How often an alert gets repeated. As with the DURATION setting, this is in minutes So I was expecting 1 alarm and then it holds for 12 hours until alarms again for the same failure. Has anyone had issues with this working as it should or may I have the syntax wrong? I am trying to get your script (xymon-rclient.sh) running on my xymon and have hit some issue that must have something to do with my environment. L.S., I'm not a xymon specialist, so maybe some of my ideas are already on some wishlist. I'm sorry for that. I've been going through some of the sources of xymon and noticed there's room for improvements. The HTML code is hardcoded in the sources. I think by separating code and layout, each is easier to maintain and some extra functionality could be added: - responsive web design to improve displaying on tablets and smartphones; - and/or develop app to support alerting etc on tablets/smartphones; - add RSS feeds for interactions (alerts, enabling/disabling services, ...); - opt-in/opt-out system for alerting etc; - e-mail interface for alerting, acknowledgements, services, ...; - single-sign-on for administration; - personal pages, per user layout, ... If I could/would add some of these wishes, would you be interested in adopting those in the original xymon sources? If not, what's the best way to as for or offer changes? Xymon 4.2.3 / Trouble with alternate pagesets

Just to give a little background information, I have a virtualhost (xymon) pointing / on xymon to /opt/xymon/server/www . I also have one server running the Xymon display and two Solaris zones running half of the network tests each (so three different places where the bb-hosts file exists). The issues: 1) All of the links/embedded images are asking for /hobbit/gifs/<imgfile>.gif, despite the fact that this is the code I'm using on the bbgen command: BBWEB="/loc" $BBHOME/bin/bbgen --pageset=loc $BBHOME/www/loc/ ...as per the manual. Adding a symbolic link in the / directory (in this case /opt/xymon/server/www) hobbit -> . solves the problem, but it makes no sense to me. 2) bbgen runs fine, generates the whole webpage structure, but all of the subpages where the hosts are supposed to appear are blank. I've used xxpage and xxsubpage and then defined on the host lines XX:<subpagename>. Originally I had the xxpage/xxsubpage stuff at the bottom of the file and noticed that doesn't work, and I moved it to the top and now this is where I'm stuck. Ryan Novosielski, your insight did the trick, Having REPEAT on the first line of the Alarm cause it to fail(be ignored) for me. Moving REPEAT to the second line works like a champ. For example, it does not come up in the first 5 pages of results (and no-one is likely to look further than that) if I google for: xymon iax2 test which is what I originally googled for until I found this page: http://lists.xymon.com/oldarchive/2008/09/msg00109.html with a link to: http://www.trantor.org/theshire/doku.php/monitors:asterisk-iax2 I clicked that page, and got: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /index.php/home/http/skriv.org/main/www/theshire/doku.php/monitors:asterisk- iax2 on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. So then, I issued the first google query above to find the correct link. It would help xymon if xymonton.org came up prominently in the results of relevant search queries. Not to mention, helping existing xymon users searching for add-ons! ;) And I think the first two things that might help with this are (a) changing robots.txt; and (b) fixing all the links like the trantor.org link above to redirect to the appropriate page on xymonton.org. Given that the URL format is the same, I don't suppose this is too difficult to achieve.
