Integrating tools with Xymon

Hi Team, Can you help us on how we can integrate below tools with xymon: 1. Plancap - Have been able to add it to the xymon menu. But would like to include it in the Main View as well. 2. bbhostgrep --no-down and dialup hosts

Hi list, Not sure if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything in the archives and there is nothing in the MAN page... We're running 4.2.3 so I'll be speaking in old hobbit filenames. We have a number of development servers that we want to monitor when they are online, but it is not essential that they are always online, so they are flagged with the "dialup" flag in bb-hosts. We have some external scripts which use bbhostgrep to poll bb-hosts to determine which hosts to run the tests on. This is fine when they are online, but when a dialup host goes offline it's status goes "clear". "bbhostgrep --no-down" seems to include "clear" conn hosts in the list of hosts to test so the test still get attempted against a host which is now no longer online. Without having to code in extra ping checks into our scripts am I missing something? or is this a bug. I would have expected "bbhostgrep --no-down" to return only non-RED conn hosts. Thanks Steve

Clients fail to show up in monitor

Has anyone seen this before? Client does not move from Ghost Client to normal views and no data is recorded Background INFO: XYMON Ver 4.3.5 Client XP, BBWin_0.12 I have a systems not showing any data, all test show up as "-" . I do see the client in Ghost Clients and it shows beside it in the "Candidate" side the system I placed in the host.cfg file so it does look to be matching but it never locks on. Just remains in GhostClients. No data is collected in the /data areas and I am not seeing any logs in hostd.log that may say why it is not latching on to the client. Here is the different views and corresponding data. PATCH: RRD Graph Colours

Hi, Attached is a patch that allows users to customise the colour of the RRD graphs (default is black on white). Xymon client only reports once

I've installed Xymon on my home network as testing for a possible installation at work. It's working fine on three out of the four systems, but on the fourth, the client only reports its status to the server once, immediately after being started. The problem computer is a Pentium MMX with 48MB RAM, running Gentoo Linux. It looks as if the client is getting hung in the process of sending the second report: "ps aux" shows a sleeping "xymonlaunch" process, and the XYMONTMP directory contains a "xymon_vmstat" file with a timestamp five minutes after the successful update. I could probably work around this with cron job to restart the client every five minutes, but I'd rather fix it properly. Any suggestions on what might be going wrong, or other things I could look at? Thanks, Mark Wagner

Broken custom graphs in trends

Hi all I'm getting some broken "extra" graphs in my trends page and not sure if I've done something wrong or if it's a bug. I'm running v4.3.3 of Xymon on Linux. I've successfully implemented a collector for BIND DNS statistics that injects the data into Xymon using a "TRENDS" message, as detailed in the last section of http://xymon.com/xymon/help/howtograph.html. I have the RRD files being created with valid data, one with multiple DSes, others with a single DS named "lambda". My graphs.cfg file has valid descriptions for things like [bindstats-mismatch] (showing responses with mismatched query IDs). I've deliberately avoided using the existing name "bind". As per the documentation, I appended ",bindstats" to the end of the "GRAPHS and TEST2RRD" values in xymonserver.cfg. I also added "TRENDS:*,bindstats:bindstats|bindstats-breakdown|bindstats-mismatch" in hosts.cfg, so that I get all 3 graphs in the trends page. All three are defined in graphs.cfg, with two using "FNPATTERN" and the other explicitly naming the files. My trends page shows the three graphs I've defined. But it also shows three more broken graphs after each functioning one. The IMG URI for all four appears identical except for the "first=" value. The first graph has in its URL "first=1", the second shows "first=4", the third shows "first=7" and the last shows "first=10". All of them have "count=3" in the URI. It seems like this is designed to show a multi-graph with many data sets, split into several groups of 3. But as there's only one data set, there's nothing to show for "first=4" (and subsequent graphs) and so rrgraph bails. Can anyone suggest something I've missed or a way to get this to only show one of each graph on the trends page? Cheers Jeremy

I recently started using 4.3.7 and have discovered that the dispinclude directive in hosts.cfg doesn't appear to be working. I had to change all the dispinclude's to plain include's before any of my custom page sets would show up. Thanks, Larry Barber

how to add a specific http timeout

I've been looking at setting one of our systems to have a different timeout on the http test to the default 10 seconds. I've followed the instructions from Henrik, > 1) Add the "--test-untagged" option to your current xymonnet command in tasks.cfg > > 2) Add "NET:slowtests" to this particular host in hosts.cfg > > 3) In a script, set XYMONNETWORK="slowtests" (remember to export it!) and then run the xymonnet command to do the test of this one host, with the different --timeout option > > 4) Add a new section to tasks.cfg to run the test script. multiple alerts for single process

Has anyone been successful at something like this? I am monitoring a process where there should be at least 1 running but no more than 1. These processes are running on a windows server (BBWin 0.12) and reporting back to my Xymon server (4.3.0) on Ubuntu (10.04). Easy (analysis.cfg): HOST=reallycoolserver PROC galaxy_hitch_guide.exe 1 1 red Ok, so on occasion some special people will run an additional process manually and this happens often and is acceptable. So, I would like the alert above to have an initial duration of say 240 prior to alerting. Easy (alerts.cfg): HOST=reallycoolserver MAIL me at here.com DURATION>240 REPEAT=30 FORMAT=TEXT STOP So, this seems all well and good except in 2 other cases: - If another monitored process on reallycoolserver fails, it will also be delayed 240 minutes. - If an unacceptable condition with coolthing.exe such as 20 of them running.
