I've done something and now xymon always reports no events logged on the "all none green" page , even though tests are failing and recovering as recently as a few minute ago. This might have started on the day I ran my first trimhistory command, but can't be sure about that. I can still see the history of events in /var/lib/xymon/histlogs Any suggestions on how I might troubleshoot this issue?

Displaying thresholds for a group of hosts

Hi all, I'm looking for ideas on a more detailed view of a hosts thresholds other than from confreport.cgi. I'm being asked to provide threshold information for each host on a given page and right now it's all manual. I don't think I'm missing anything in the man pages. Anyone doing something similar? Yellow->red escalation, bug or feature?

I think this is a bug, but maybe it's a feature I haven't figured out yet: Many of our alerts are set to email on yellow and page with escalation on red: alert1 after 10 minutes (repeat every 10), alert2 after 20 minutes , alert3 after 40 minutes, alert4 after an hour. When an alert is yellow, it sometimes sits around for a while. When an alert goes red, the alert1 person acks or fixes the alert and the alert4 person should never be woken up. However, when an alert has been yellow for over an hour and *then* turns red, we are seeing that the entire escalation group is paged, as though the alert has been red for over an hour. I think this is a bug - when the alert first goes red it should be treated as a NEW alert and not go waking up everyone. Thoughts? Am I missing something? Our tier4 person is getting rather annoyed at being woken up for things that the tier1 person can handle. thanks Betsy

Hello, I'm using BBWin 0.12 on my Windows Servers that communicate with a XYMON 4.3.0.0 beta2 server, and generally, it's working fine. But recently, I installed BBWin on new machines . All is working fine except that I can't get CPU a Memory RRD charts. Is there a way to get the clock.rrd generated from a bbwin client (.12 or .13) running in central mode? The client reports clock, but xymon doesn't generate clock.rrd like it does for a linux or unix host. It would be nice to graph the clock offset for windows hosts too. testing group owner on a file

[Note: still running 4.2.3] I have a file definition: FILE /usr/sbin/sendmail.sendmail GROUP:51 yellow for our Linux servers. However, it seems to not be working. On several hosts the file data looks like: [file:/usr/sbin/sendmail.sendmail] type:100000 (file) mode:2755 (-rwxr-sr-x) linkcount:1 owner:0 (root) group:25 (smmsp) size:806460 clock:1328201361 (2012/02/02-11:49:21) atime:1328201173 (2012/02/02-11:46:13) ctime:1316579762 (2011/09/21-00:36:02) mtime:1311839803 (2011/07/28-03:56:43) Which I think should throw a warning. At one point I tried GROUPID=51, but that didn't work either and failed even worse by complaining that the group owner should be "D=51", so it appears to just be looking for the keyword GROUP and then skipping the next character and using the remainder of the string for the id (numeric or symbolic). But, still, it isn't complaining about the group id being 25 when we want it to be 51. Why doesn't it work as expected? Thanks, Steve

Hey there, I just want to let you know that i've modified the checkwin agent in the Xymonton Monitors tab: http://xymonton.org/ Now this script works with the more powerfull check_nrpe nagios binary instead of the check_nt one. This script uses the nagios agent "NSClient++" that must be installed on the windows servers. Reason why I can't use BBWin: I needed a mechanism that allows Xymon to pull data from a windows machine and not a push mechanism like BBWin does. I've added the following features: cpu, disk, memory, uptime, services, procs, files, bbwin external script support. Todo in the near future: - event log check. - task scheduler check. best regards, B-Art
