Hi, By request, I've uploaded version 0.13 of the BBWin MSI to SourceForge. This is compiled from the current Subversion trunk (revision 238) - we've not tagged it yet. I just wanted to release it to the public - I know there are still unresolved issues, but the latest version does have some important fixes. Please use the bug reporting on SourceForge to raise any issues. File Monitor in Central Mode on WinXP

Folks, I am using the filemonitor in bbwin in central mode. It finds the file if it is there but the NOEXIST does not work. I have the following in client-local: [nas] file:c:/publicdata/logs/shouldnotbehere.txt and I have the following in hobbit-clients: HOST=nas FILE "C:/Publicdata/Logs/shouldnotbehere.txt" NOEXIST color=red If the file exists it reports the file but nothing else. Odd behaviour with FILE test

Has anyone seen this happen before - First, my Xymon server is running on Ubuntu 10.04. Xymon version 4.3.0. I have 2 Windows 2003 SP2 servers in which I check a files modified time. On one of those servers the file checked returns a green indication as the file has been modified within the last 5 minutes. On the other it says it has not been updated in over 21,600+ seconds (just over the 6 hour mark). If I look at the data returned from both tests the time in seconds in virtually the same - both are actually off by about 6 hours. The time and time zone are set the same on both servers. The times are all consistent with the Xymon server. The files on both servers are no older then 5 minutes. So, why does one file test say it is off by 6 hours (UTC vs. CST)? Solaris memory

XyMon msg metric - how to check log entries only since last check?

Is it possible to setup xymon to check log-file (msg metric) only for new entries since last check (or 5 min)? For now I see it is only possible to specify how much data in log-file xymon will parse. But, depending on activities it can be big or small - so the same bad entry can be reported for 2 or more check intervals and some (when quite much activities in log-file) can be missed. Hobbit Server Summary Report

Hi, How do you go about getting a summary report of clients that a Hobbit server is monitoring and being reported. For example, 1. how many full clients are there (or how many is a hobbit server receiving data)? 2. how many client-less clients are there (no clients, only pings)? My ad-hoc/convoluted approach: # FULL clients are those sending data and updating netstat.rrd files: cd $HOME/data/rrd ls -t */netstat.rrd > file newer_files file TODAY > full_client_list # client-less are those with up-to-date tcp.conn.rrd files ls -t */tcp.conn.rrd > file newer_files file TODAY > all_active (full + client_less) client_less_list = all_active - full_client_list Thank you, Ye-fee

TS - Is there a DB frontend for Xymon maintenance?

Team, Has anyone created a Database (MySQL) front-end to handle the HOSTS and ALERTS information? Thus, when finished, you extract all of the data from the tables in the DB and re-create the HOSTS and/or ALERTS files. And then you restart Xymon? I have a need for multiple Admins to do ADD, CHANGE, DELETE requests to the system but they cannot work on the files at the same time. I have had to create a LOCK and UNLOCK (exclusive) while someone is working on the files. The NOTES files are individual files and are no problem as you probably would not be working on someone else's NOTES files. how to add a specific http timeout

Hi Currently, xymonnet is running with a global timeout of 20 seconds (--timeout=20). For a particular device, i need to increase the HTTP timeout (120 seconds.. sic). I did't find anything regarding this kind of feature. only a old mail of 2006 saying it's not possible. (http://lists.xymon.com/archive/2006-August/009042.html) Is it still not possible to override this timeout individually ? Cheers Nico

Just how does one use build/makerpm.sh to create an rpm? I'm trying to use it to build just the client, and it's trying to build rrdtool, and I know I don't need that on a client. Load Average threshold - a mathematic rule regarding the number of threads ?

Hello Our LA rule is currently "LOAD 5 10" but we can't apply this kind of rule automatically for all our devices anymore. Indeed, we have more and more devices with many threads. I'd like to know if people have the same issue because it's very annoying to override the LOAD when we could automatize it. For instance we would like to follow this kind of rule: 1 cpu : "LOAD 2 4" 2 cpu : "LOAD 4 8" 2 cpu, 12 threads by cpu (=24 threads in total) : "LOAD 48 96" We could calculate it with n=`grep -ci process /proc/cpuinfo` and applying LOAD "n x2" "n x4" It is possible to have this kind of feature ? Anybody else is interested by that ? how do you handle your Load Average threshold ? CHeers Nico
