I would like to keep some EventLog id's with a certain pattern, but not all. how to split xymon display and xymon network test servers

All, I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that after all this time using Xymon (and Hobbit and BB before that) I did not realize until today that Xymon does not use the keywords BBDISPLAY, BBNET and BBPAGER. So, now I have a need to split BBNET from the others and have been looking at the email archives and man pages but have found no explanation of how to do it. Note I'm still on Xymon 4.2.3. All I need is a pointer to instructions for how to configure what would be the BBNET server. The hobbitserver.cfg file talks about 'this server', but the variables there seem to be explicitly talking about the display server, so I'm confused. >From the man page for combo.cfg: A simple test - e.g. "Web1.http" - results in the value "1" if the http" test for server "Web1" is green, yellow or clear. It yields the value "0" if it is red, purple or blue. Can someone explain the thinking behind that for me? The reason I ask is because we are trying to reduce the number of columns we display. Any significant outage causes all sorts of columns to start lighting up. This causes the width of the xymon display to become very wide and quite unmanageable. So we decided to experiment with combo tests and noticed a couple things, yellow alerts do not cause the combo test to go red. Disabling (blue-ing) a test causes the combo test to go to red. I blue or disable tests so I will not see the alert, typically when one or more hosts is going down for a maintenance. Perhaps I am trying to use combo test in a way it was not designed for? Before I go looking in the code, to perhaps change what colors cause the combo test to fire, I would like to understand the thinking behind the combo test, assuming I cannot change the colors from a config file? ~David

I use a custom script to send emails and I had that problem as well. What I do prior to sending the email via the custom script is parse out the HTML using sed. It replaces the <BR> tag with a newline and removes all other items that are in the format "<anything>". Here is an updated script we use to report memory utilization on HP-UX 11.31 ia64. The obnoxious part is that it requires a sudoer entry for the Xymon user to run /usr/bin/adb. #!/usr/bin/ksh # # This has been modified to compensate for ia64 reporting inaccuracy from swapinfo.
