bbtest-net man page says --dns=[ip|only|standard] Determines how bbtest-net finds the IP adresses of the hosts to test. By default (the "standard"), bbtest-net does a DNS lookup of the hostname to determine the IP address, unless the host has the "testip" tag, or the DNS lookup fails. With "--dns=only" bbtest-net will ONLY do the DNS lookup; it it fails, then all services on that host will be reported as being down. With "--dns=ip" bbtest-net will never do a DNS lookup; it will use the IP adresse specified in bb-hosts for the tests. Thus, this setting is equivalent to having the "testip" tag on all hosts. Note that http tests will ignore this setting and still perform a DNS lookup for the hostname given in the URL; see the "bbtest-net tags for HTTP tests" section in bb-hosts(5) I think this should be updated like below. added a "Note:.." --dns=[ip|only|standard] Determines how bbtest-net finds the IP adresses of the hosts to test. But ping test still shows success. I am trying to use the DIR in hobbit-client.cfg, but not having any luck. Does anyone use this? Hello, I wrote a small scripts which reports data from every node. Everything works perfectly well. But I'd like to know where in the xymon server this data are stored. Does someone knows where they are ? Thanks in advance cED

I have seen many hits on the web from people who are experiencing xymon client build issues on solaris 10 sparc and x86, but haven't seen a resolution... host macro in hobbit-client.cfg

Hi ! Is it possible to use Host Macros in hobbit-client.cfg in such way : I've got several groups of host e.g ATLAS=tcx040,tcx060,tcx080,tcx120,tcx100,tcx101,tcx102,tcx111,tcx112 CMS=tcx061,tcx081,tcx121,tcx034 FLC=tcx33,tcx37,tcx57 And i want to have one group WGS=ATLAS,CMS which i want to use for EXHOST= PAGE=Workernodes/Infiniband EXHOST=%WGS I've searched the archive but found only this thread http://www.xymon.com/archive/2007/10/msg00053.html with the answer, it dosn't work :-( I've tested some configs e.g. $ATLAS=(tcx040|tcx060|tcx080|tcx120|tcx100|tcx101|tcx102|tcx111|tcx112) $CMS=tcx061,tcx081,tcx121,tcx034 http://www.xymon.com/archive/2007/10/msg00053.html Any hints are welcome thanks & cheers, Martin

variables in hobbit-alerts.cfg

So I have a fancy new mail filter script that allows me to send mail to admins+servername at mail.blah.com in order to reach the people responsible for servername. I'd like to use this in hobbit-alerts, but I can't seem to find a way. It seems I can match on hostname (HOST=xyz) to decide where alerts should go, and I can get the hostname (BBHOSTNAME) inside of a custom SCRIPT, but I can't use it in the hobbit-alerts directly. For instance, this MAIL admins+$BBHOSTNAME at mail.blah.com tries to sent the message to admins+$BBHOSTNAME at mail.blah.com. Yes, I can do an external script, but I'd really rather not recreate the messages Xymon is sending out anyway just to change the recipient. New install of Xymon [Trunk]

Hey All, Having a small problem here. Just installed a fresh copy of Xymon trunk. Everything seems to be going well, except for the fact there isn't any Xymon data coming in for the local client. Normally, I would see bbd bbgen cpu disk files memory etc... but that doesn't appear to be collecting for the local machine that Xymon server is installed to. TS - DNS Lookups ERRORS

Is there any where in the Xymon system to find those devices that are failing DNS lookups? I have added testip to multiple devices that I know were not in the dns and this has helped quite a bit. Hi ! Got somebody an working script for counting OS of alle clients ( RHEl3/4/5 Solaris .5.8/5.19./5.10 etc ..) with graphing .. ? I know some old threads about that request, But hey didn't really work for me are without graphs .. :-( thanks & cheers, Martin

SSL error?

I'm having a weird error when checking for SSL on 1 web server. All other web servers pass fine, and the webserver that is generating this error is OK when I check through a web browser: 2010-09-20 12:11:58 Unspecified SSL error in SSL_connect to https (47873/tcp) on host 192.168.0.26: error:140773F2:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert unexpected message Anyone know what this could mean?
