I have a need to add a new ICON (green, red, yellow, blue, etc.) to the existing icons for a network device. I also need to alert on the change of colors of the icon. I am using a MIB check to verify that a device (in a set of HA devices) is the current one using the virtual IP address. I can tell from my scripting that the device has switched to the other of the HA pair. (A Juniper SSL-VPN pair). I will be using NET-SNMP on the XYMON server to gather the info using a crontab script. I need to create and change an ICON next to the device. E.g. HA If HA for that device goes from GREEN(active server) to RED(now inactive server) notify. The same for a return to being the GREEN active server. I saw something about 6 months ago on setting an ICON to a color but have not been able to find it again. I must also be searching on the incorrect strings in the archive. TS - Hobbit ==> SNMP

I have installed Hobbit on a Dell R-610 on CentOS 5.4. I have installed Net:SNMP so that I can query a MIB. I am looking for a good setup guide/HOW-TO to integrate a test to controlling an ICON on a device. I must be searching in the archive for the wrong string. I want to test a MIB or MIBs and then trigger a change in the ICON red, yellow, green e.g. temperature of a device, or reserve power in a UPS I am also looking for a GOOD J HOW-TO for setting up DEVMON on the Xymon server. It seems that it can read the bb-hosts file to find the devices to monitor. But then again, I read that you have to edit a configuration file for the device and the test to run. I could not find a good testing info source of the options that are available. If you use the config file does it then only test the devices in the configs file vs. the bb-hosts file? Solaris 10 x86 Client mis-reporting available disk space

I've just installed xymon latest onto a Solaris X86 client, and it is reporting warning levels of 90% disk use, when in fact the machine is only at 60%. I've been unable to find where and how this is defined/set, and same goes for swap and CPU (although these two ARE NOT a problem right now). Thank you in advance, .vp

Interupted Tests?/ASP.NET Scripts

Hi Guys/Gals I am trying to finish the ASP.Net health check script which I wrote. It has been running for a couple of days now and I have been getting some results(windows performance counters are a pain at the best of times). There is a strange problem though. Have a look at this graph to see what I mean. It appears that the BBWin client does not send results during the night. I had a look at the eventlogs, errors logs and every else and found no glaring issues. Has anyone seen this before? I've been searching the archives for this and can't even figure out what to search for, really, so sorry if I missed something. I'm running Xymon 4.2.3 on Solaris 10. We are in the EST time zone. The pages generated by Xymon for all but the detail pages which are generated by hobbitsvc.cgi have the correct time displayed at the top. All pages generated by hobbitsvc.cgi as well as the times shown on all of the graphs are four hours in the future (presumably UTC?). I would like to know how to fix this little problem. Everything else (well almost) is working great. Thanks for any pointers. Steve Holmes Purdue University

Graphing Question

Hi All I am busy helping with some ASP.NET monitoring. I got the performance counters to report. Now they want graphs so I got a basic graph up and running. Basically I want to show a graph with two lines. 1 Line indicates the current requests(green) the other the queued requests(red). Like I said I got the graph running and I have the two values reporting. However it appears a little funny. The graph is moving into the negative range see attached screen shot. What I have seen is that the requests queue are constantly 0. The current request range from 0-20. Also the number on the y axis reports it in milli and it is a little misleading. As I am not a rrdtool expert I think it is averaging the two series and getting this value? how to handle several extra-scripts for hobbitd_rrd

Hi ! I've got the problem, to use several extra-scripts for hobbitd_rrd e.g. extragraph.sh,devmon-rrd.pl or the new one flexlmpl ... The manual says only to use one file for extra-script --extra-script=FILENAME Defines the script that is run to get the RRD data for tests that are not built into hobbitd_rrd. You must also specify which tests are handled by the external script in the --extra-tests option. This option can only be given once, so the script must handle all of the external test-data. See the CUSTOM RRD DATA section below. Note that this is NOT needed if your custom graphs are generated by the NCV (Name Colon Value) module described below, it is only required for data where you have a custom script to parse the status message and extract the data that is put into the graph. But how could i handle this ? Only append one script after the other one into a simple shell-script ? Or have i to write a hole new one for this ? .. thinking many other Xymon's should have this "problem" ? thanks & cheers Martin

Monitor flexlm.pl on xymonton

Hello, FYI: Yesterday I've uploaded script flexlm.pl to xymonton. This client-side script determines the status of the FLEXlm services, which is reported in test "flexlm", and the number of licenses issued, which is reported in test "licenses". Test "flexlm" also lists the users who use a license for a long time. This script and and the configuration at the Xymon server are designed to be independent of the names of the licensed products. Thus if the set of licensed products changes, the test results in Xymon will automatically follow these changes.
