I have two xymon clients, both on solaris 10, Sun-Fire-T200, which somehow end up with two hobbitlaunch processes, the second process is always owned by '0001985' (see below). Hi all, I'm monitoring a server that is running xymon client. This host is powered down every night at 11pm, and is powered up every morning at 9am. So, in bb-hosts file on xymon server, I added the following to this host description : toto 1.2.3.4 # test test1 test2 DOWNTIME=*:2300:0900:dodo But when the host goes down, I still have some red and purple test from it. I'd like to simply ignore its existence during the scheduled downtime. I tried to reverse my DOWNTIME definition as it : DOWNTIME=*:0900:2300:dodo But nothing changes. Tks for any help

Hello, well you could do a ALLCLIENTS=`$HOBBITSERVERHOME/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdboard"|awk -F\| '{print $1}'|sort -u|wc -l` to get all clients that actually report to your server. As second step do a INSTCLIENTS=`$HOBBITSERVERHOME/bin/bb 127.0.0.1 "hobbitdboard test=cpu"|awk -F\| '{print $1}'|sort -u|wc -l` to get all clients that have client installed monitoring. I assume if a client is installed then it also reports a cpu status. Finally do CLIENTLESS=$((ALLCLIENTS-INSTCLIENTS)). However, clients polled via SNMP are also show the cpu status but have no client installed. But I hope to have helped you a bit. Cheers Torsten Hi, Is there better way of reporting this? Purpose: to report how many active client and client-less monitoring are done by hobbit. My method: 1. for client installed monitoring, count the number of /home/hobbit/data/rrd/*/vmstat.rrd that are recent (ie. newer than a date file created earlier, say 5am) 2. for client-less monitoring, count the number of latest /home/hobbit/data/histlogs/*/conn/ or /home/hobbit/data/histlogs/*/http/ (if both exist, then count only one) that are recent (see def. above). Hi, I have 3 different server running xymon 4.3b, all are running great. There is one that is having issues graphing the only thing it will graph is the "conn" everything else just gets a "nan" error. This all started after we switched to a central config method. Compile Issue with latest SVN version of 4.3.0

Hey People, I have downloaded the latest SVN tarball and am having issues compiling xymon. The error I get is: In file included from do_rrd.c:546: rrd/do_net.c: In function ‘do_net_rrd’: rrd/do_net.c:123: error: ‘plusminuts’ undeclared (first use in this function) rrd/do_net.c:123: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once rrd/do_net.c:123: error: for each function it appears in.) rrd/do_net.c:131: error: ‘offset’ undeclared (first use in this function) I have rrdtoool-1.2.23-1 and I notice that this part of the function is not in the version that I am currently running. BBWin Central vs Local Configuration

Hi, Does anyone know why the information displayed on Xymon is so different depending on whether you set BBWin to use centralised or local configuration? For example, services in central mode list all available services, whereas in local mode it only shows the ones you want to monitor - centralised mode also doesn't allow spaces in the service name. In centralised mode, it seems to be hit or miss whether it reports on events in the system log (some clients work, some don't), whereas in local mode it works fine. I think we may be sticking with local mode and finding a way to deploy configuration files for now. dynamic comment

Hi, is it possible to use a dynamic comment in bb-hosts? In Big Brother I patched mkbb2.sh to display a phone number next to the name that changed depending of the time of day. These phone numbers were taken from a separate config file. But with XYmon I only can put a comment to the line in bb-hosts and it is no solution to run a script that changes bb-hosts every time a number has to be changed. I'd like to have something like "COMMENT:$SCRIPTNAME" and this script then is called and gives you back the phone number that is then displayed next to the server name as comment. TIA Torsten
