How do I change the "mail from" for email alerts?

My /var/spool/exim4/msglog is filling up with messages similar to the following: 2009-06-04 12:26:17 Received from hobbit@ U=hobbit P=local S=929 2009-06-04 12:26:33 it at mydomain.com <IT at mydomain.com> R=dnslookup T=remote_smtp: SMTP error from remote mailer after MAIL FROM:<hobbit@> SIZE=1973: host exchange.mydomain [10.10.10.21]: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address Process failed (1) when writing error message to hobbit@ (frozen) I have reconfigured Exim4 to allow remote mail, but I can't find a way to make the email alerts from hobbit/xymon use a different "MAIL FROM" than "hobbit@", which our Exchange server knows is not a valid address. I have tried making sure that the hostname is defined in the bbserver config and that the domain is configured in resolv.conf. I also tried creating an entry for "hobbit: hobbit at mydomain.com<mailto:hobbit at mydomain.com>" in /etc/email-addresses I'm not a *nix guru by any means, and I'm sure this is something simple that I'm missing?

My hobbit server is suffering following error message in page.log file. 1. I tried commented out all the "DOWNTIME" entries in bb-hosts* files, but "Bad timespec ..." still keep spitting into page.log. 4. Howto display page hobbit in columns / <table>

Windows client on BBWIN 0.12 reports panic level disk error

All, I have a simple question hopefully... In the hobbit-client.cfg file I have a number of tests set for this particular Windows server running the bbwin 0.12 client. I was able to successfully configure procs, services, etc. On the local client config file ONLY the "C" drive is defined and "D" is set to be ignored due to the D drive collecting rolling log files and it will always be at 99%. In the hobbit-client.cfg file the D drive is not shown and the default section was removed. I am unable to locate the 95% panic level setting. Can anyone help with this?

We've been running big brother for some years, and we monitor several hundred servers in 2 data centers. We are currently running a pilot of xymon (4.3.0 svn), and just as with big brother, we have redundant monitoring servers. A xymon server in california monitors hosts in both california and arizona, and a xymon server in arizona monitors hosts in both data centers as well. For the most part, xymon is performing well, but it is a bit of an annoyance with xymon that we get duplicate notifications, as each xymon server sends it's own notifications for every event. Big brother sends a single notification for each event, as controlled by the alerting failover. Is there any way to suppress the duplicate notifications from xymon? Joe

PROC mincount maxcount default

Running Xymon 4.2.3 on RHEL5 and noticed that when listing a process in hobbit-clients.cfg like this: PROC sshd yellow I assumed, based on the man page that the defaults would be mincount 1 and maxcount -1 so the entry would be interpreted as: PROC sshd 1 -1 yellow But on the proc webpage it shows up as: sshd (found 3, req. none) To actually get it to require at least 1, I have to explicitly list the process in hobbit-clients.cfg like this: PROC sshd 1 -1 yellow Is this expected behavior? Maybe I am misinterpreting the man page?

Problem with external script and RRD-Graphs

Hi guys, im trying to monitor some mysql performances like slowqueries, threads, queries per second, etc. trought an external script. So far i get all results from the client (Big Brother-Client) unless the graphs. Using big brother (server) i get 3 graphs (slowqueries, threads and queries per second) but after migrating BB to Hobbit i cant get any graph anymore. I already did all steps from "How to setup custom graphs" but its not working. Did i forget something / did something wrong or is it with the BB-Client not possible? After editing the hobbitserver.cfg and hobbitgraph.cfg i had some confrontations with: how should i configure the parameters of the hobbitserver.cfg and hobbitgraph.cfg if i want 3 diferent graphs in one page, when the graph name has to be the same as the column name? when trying to get the only graph into the browser i get only an 1x1 Pixel graph... has anybody any idea?? TIA

Can't get anything to show up on the server side. I have looked on the client side and it appears to be running. There are files in /opt/hobbit/tmp with the name of hobbit_zonestat.vuglzn04.(pid#) Nothing in the client logs showing any error. On the server side there is no data in /apps/xymon/data/rrd/(servername). Nothing in the logs. The hobbit_rrd appears to be running.
