Can't access xymon web page on new install.

Hi, I am kicking myself for not knowng this but I'll ask anyway. Just completed an install of xymon on rhel3, no problems. I choose to use the el3 xymon rpm. After it installed I tried to access the web page via http://localhost/xymon but I can only see the directories not the web page. what am I not doing. False red alerts for disk

Hi, Running Xymon 4.3.0-0.beta2, I sometimes gets false red alerts from disk on a few servers (One of the servers is the xymon server itself). Usually disk status is reported green, as this: Wed Jun 10 16:29:17 CEST 2009 - Filesystems OK Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on /dev/sda1 204603376 1616748 192593380 1% / But occasionally, I get red alerts, like this: - Filesystems NOT ok red 192593256 1% / (1616872% used) has reached the PANIC level (95%) Filesystem 1024-blocks Use] Available Capacity Mounted on /dev/sda1 204603376 1616872 192593256 1% / Somehow the parsing of the client data doesn't work right, resulting the disk blocks being interpreted as percent used. Hi again, My next issue with hobbit is the bbd connection is shown as purple however hobbit-client is running, Please show me how to trouble shoot this one. Creating graphs for custom scripts

Ok, I have had some luck with this but things changed as I moved forward. First off I did follow the instructions that are here: http://www.hobbitmon.com/hobbit/help/howtograph.html But, what I am trying to graph is physical/logical disk queue length of my windows boxes. My server is ubuntu and I do have a script that actually can go out to multiple hosts to get the information (disk queue length). My problem is that under my test column each host can have a different set of drives to get stats for. So, say serverA has drives C & D but serverB has drives C & E. I can make serverA graph if I define exactly what is sent to Xymon drives C & D. What I would like to do is have the config in hobbitgraph.cfg be able to work with data returned from any number of drives. These can all be in the same single graph or in multiple graphs (can't seem to get either to work). So, in hobbitserver.cfg I have added: TEST2RRD="...,hdd_test=nvc" ... NVC_hdd_test="diskqueueC:GAUGE,diskqueueD:GAUGE,diskqueueE:GAUGE" I have also tried: NVC_hdd_test="diskqueue*:GAUGE" NVC_hdd_test="diskqueue:GAUGE" Also - test2rrd without the "=nvc" and without the lines above. In hobbitgraph.cfg I have many different configurations but I can't get the graph to work unless I specifically define each variable and then it will only work with a single host that matches a specific set of drives. I would add my hobbitgraph.cfg additions but there have been so many different modifications if I put only one in it would tell the whole story. Is there a way to add a graph definition to hobbitgraph.cfg that uses wildcards? Something like: [hdd_test] FNPATTERN hdd_test(.*).rrd TITLE Avg. Hosts with multiple IP's + scheduling standard hosts

Hi, I've searched the archive as well as online but couldn't find a concrete answer. How can I monitor hosts that have multiple IP Addresses? Currently we assign a 'virtual hostname' to each IP: IP Hostname_a IP Hostname_b IP Hostanme_c etc. I'm sure there muct be a simpler way. Secondly, I've seen posts that explain how to schedule checks and alerts for 'critical' hosts with "NKTIME", but is there a way to schedule check of all hosts without adding them to a 'critical' list? We only want to check certain hosts 19:00 - 06:00 M-F for example. Thanks, Mario

Oversized status message errors

Hello Henrik, We are getting the below errors in Xymon. I saw a few references to this in the mailing list and the fix was supposed to in the hobbitserver.cfg MAX_MSG setting. I can't find that entry in 4.2.3 can you advise on how to get rid of these messages? why is bbtest-net fails but regular ping or fping finds it alive for this host? New feature request for Bbgen / Xymon?

I have a page of 4 hosts and 35 custom tests plus the normal client tests so over 40 columns. Any way to invert this to have just the 4 hosts on the top and the 40+ tests down the side? As it is today it just doesn't fit/format right on the screen and is hard to view. I wonder if anyone else has run into this one? Hobbit startup script.

Hi, I understand that hobbit needs to run as the hobbit user, but it is a bit annoying to have the hobbit startup script require the hobbit user to run it. When I want to run it automagically out of /etc/init.d I have to change the script to not check for hobbit and then do an su to the hobbit user thus: su -c "/home/xymon/server/bin/hobbitlaunch --config=/home/xymon/server/etc/hobbitlaunch.cfg --env=/home/xymon/server/etc/hob bitserver.cfg --log=/var/log/xymon/hobbitlaunch.log --pidfile=/var/log/xymon/hobbitlaunch.pid" why is it done this way rather than as above, thus allowing the server to start out of init.d?
