SPLITNCV remains derive instead of GAUGE

Guys, I'm having a problem with a graph for a custom test of mine. The test sends different performance numbers for hard disks of windows servers. The output looks like this: Average disk que length per (physical) disk: Local Disk 0 : 0.120800 Local Disk 1 : 0.010100 Since this test is used for different server types, the number of hard disk is different for every server. Because of this I use SPLITNCV to generate multiple RRD's for every disk. Then I create the graphs using the FNPATTERN stuff. The RRD's collect the data without a problem. The only problem I'm having is that I cannot tell SPLITNCV that my test uses a GAUGE value instead of DERIVE. I tried placing: SPLITNCV_dskperf="LocalDisk*:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_dskperf="LocalDisk0:GAUGE,LocalDisk1:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_dskperf="*:GAUGE" SPLITNCV_dskperf="GAUGE" NCV_dskperf="LocalDisk*:GAUGE" NCV_dskperf="LocalDisk0:GAUGE,LocalDisk1:GAUGE" NCV_dskperf="*:GAUGE" NCV_dskperf="GAUGE" But no success, rrd tool keeps saying that the dataset is DERIVE. For anyone who is interested...heres what i ended up doing for it to finally work... Installed VM Fedora 7.... Disabled the Firewall, SELinux, and Killed the IPTables (/etc/init.d/iptables stop) Yum Installed the following: RRDTool, RRDTool-Devel, OpenSSL-Devel, OpenLDAP-Devel, PCRE-Devel, Fping (although i didnt use it), and what seemed to fix everything was LIBPNG-DEVEL....!!! Not sure y,..but... I then was able to do a clean ./Configure of Xymon/Hobbit and installed it into /usr/local/xymon using the xymon user account and then GMAKED!! only when i ran gmake instead of make did it work in the end..once again, not sure y....then ran GMAKE INSTALL....instead of make install... Configured the apache file, started httpd, and then started hobbitd WITHOUT making any cfg changes...Worked like a charm...NO data was avaiulable rigt away but aftre 2 min, the client (bb server) appeared and clicking on the STATUS actually works now... Woo hoo for me..:)

Directory size =0

Is there a way to get hobbit/xymon to understand that a directory size of 0 is a valid response? We have a number of data ingest directories on a xfs fs that should be 0 most of the time. on ext3, du on an empty directory gives 4. on xfs, du on an empty directory gives 0 Quinton

I just made a checkout of https://hobbitmon.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/hobbitmon/trunk/hobbitd/webfi… which has the "trunk" header+footer files, and it gave me a fine set of symlinks pointing at the bb_footer file. What SVN client are you using ? If it's a Windows-based client then I suspect it may not be able to handle symlinks correctly, since there's really no equivalent to symlinks on Windows. Suitability for bb replacement in large enterprise

Hello list, I learned about hobbit a couple years back, and I've been using it in some small shops, but I'm hoping to be able to deploy it for my main employer. At my day job, we've been using the old big brother 1.9e plus bbgen-3.5 to monitor hundreds of unix and windows servers spread across 2 data centers. Id like to move to hobbit, but it is important that it be able to do what bb does. For the most part it is better than bb, but I have 2 specific areas of concern: 1. snmp traps: Our netcool ticketing system relies on snmp traps from big brother whenever there is a significant event. Are any xymon users currently using snmp traps in a similar sort of way? 2. alerting failover: We currently have active-active monitoring of all our systems. That is, the bb servers in both data centers redundantly monitor all the servers, but it would be a nuisance to get 2 pages for every event, so we use the bb failover setup so that normally only the bb server in data center "A" sends alerts, but if the bb server in data center "B" can't reach the bb server in data center "A", then it goes into failover mode and sends the alerts on behalf of the unreachable bb server in data center "A". The worst case would be some sort of split brain where we get 2 alerts, but we have not seen that scenario arise, and it works well. Is xymon 4.2.2 capable of this sort of failover behavior? I'm hoping to replace bb with xymon, but these 2 items are deal breakers. Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom, Joe

Issue with port checks and default section

At the very end of hobbit-clients.cfg I have this configured DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. UP 1h LOAD 5.0 10.0 DISK * 90 95 MEMPHYS 100 101 MEMSWAP 50 80 MEMACT 90 97 DISK %^/cdrom.* IGNORE CLOCK 30 PORT STATE=TIME_WAIT MIN=0 MAX=200 COLOR=red On two hosts defined above it I have this: HOST=host1.example.com PORT STATE=TIME_WAIT MIN=0 MAX=2000 COLOR=red HOST=host2.example.com PORT STATE=TIME_WAIT MIN=0 MAX=2000 COLOR=red My intention is to override the default PORT count setting, but it does not work as I expect. remove RRD images from test

Dear all, is it possible to remove the RRD graphics for certain tests on some machines in XYmon? As you all know for some tests RRD graphics are displayed below the test output. I was asked if it is possible to remove these graphics for the cpu tests on Windows machines but not on UNIX servers. TIA Torsten
