Running Hobbit version 4.2.0 all-in-one patch dated 2007-02-09 10:30 UTC. OS: Redhat AS 5 I have searched thru the Hobbit Archive for ways to best pattern match in log files. What I have is working to the extent of what I believe hobbit will support "out of the box" Has anyone been able to do the following: 1.) In Hobbit today with version 4.2.0 log file alerts happen once in a 30 minute window even if you have more than one occurrence. Has anyone been able to change this behavior to a smaller window? "maybe 4.3.0 has something new?" 2.) Another feature that I am looking for is thresholding. If I throw 10 messages "that match" into a log in X time frame say 15 minutes or 30 minutes and so on I don't want to get notified but if I throw 11 into the log I do. Is there any way to do this? Another script to do the work and then send to another log file and have hobbit alert on that maybe?

Hiya I installed the Hobbit system just a few months ago and it has worked great..... until I upgraded rrdtool to 1.3.0 rrdtool --version RRDtool 1.3.0 Copyright 1997-2008 by Tobias Oetiker Compiled Jul 11 2008 11:22:35 Immediately all my MRTG and hobbit graphs lost all the text information. I recompiled and reinstalled rrdtool (because I figured that some libraries had been upgraded at the same time but in the wrong order) and the MRTG graphs now display the correct information. However, the Hobbit graphs are still missing the text information (on the same server). For example see here http://iwr.ru.ac.za/hobbit-cgi/bb- hostsvc.sh?HOST=lergy.iwr.ru.ac.za&SERVICE=disk As an aside, I have got Hobbit to speak to me. My alert rules specify an external script which uses 'espeak' to do text to speach processing. Since the main server is right next to me and just happened to have sound hardware, it now speaks out a short message when Hobbit detects a problem. I can get the details from the email. I read somewhere that rrdtool 1.3.0.1 will be out soon to address some issues, but in the meantime I get the feeling that somethingin the interface has changed and maybe Hobbit needs little tweaking. hobbit dbcheck and client patch

I have been running into an issue with the client patch, when applying the patch to the 4.2.0 source. [hobbit] Latest snapshot [2008-07-18] issues

I just compiled and installed the latest Hobbit snapshot (July 18, 2008), and I'm noticing a couple minor issues (so far). 1) [very minor] The Hobbit version number is still showing as "*Hobbit Monitor 4.3.0-0.20080403 <http://hobbitmon.sourceforge.net/>*" 2) Clicking on "info" displays "Internal Server Error" for the Hobbit server. However, he "info" page displays fine on the one client I have on the Hobbit test server. Note that the previous Hobbit snapshot I was testing (2008-06-30) was showing "Internal Server Error" for any of the client "info" pages.
