If you OS supports it, you could also use "dnotify" to copy the file from primary to secondary whenever it is updated (via ftp, scp, rsync, whatever works for you). Hi, How would I count the number of currently reporting clients, as well as the number of hosts (non-clients) that Hobbit is monitoring? I have a backup Hobbit server, and want to check that it is receiving data from the same number of clients, and well as the same number of hosts it is monitoring (ie. without client installed). Possible Bug in 4.3.0-0.20070722 snapshot

I found a possible bug in the 4.3.0-0.20070722 snapshot. In the web/hobbitsvc.c (v 1.80 2007/07/18 21:20:15) This variable is set: static char *multigraphs = ",disk,inode,qtree,"; With this set the option in the hobbitcgi.cfg for CGI_SVC_OPTS=" --multi-graphs" never gets used. (This is how I found it, trying to use --multi-graphs=if_load,if_err) The if statement in the htmllog.c on line 369 is never hit since multigraph is never NULL. htmllog.c,v 1.59 2007/07/21 16:13:18 if (multigraphs == NULL) multigraphs = ",disk,inode,qtree,"; I change the hobbitsvc.c to static char *multigraphs = NULL; the if statement in htmllog.c now hits because multigraphs is NULL, however could I have possibly broken other tests with this change? SO far I havent found anything broken in my beta deployment of the snapshot, Also has this been fixed in newer snapshots? Thanks Trent

Hi all, I'm seeing the following information in my client logs and it raises a couple of questions 2007-07-27 16:14:07 Task emcpp terminated, status 5 2007-07-27 16:14:07 Task temp terminated, status 5 2007-08-01 08:12:34 Task emcpp terminated, status 7 2007-08-01 08:12:34 Task temp terminated, status 7 First, is there any way to debug this? ping test failing with wrong address!

Hi, All of a sudden today one of my servers is failing it's ping test but the odd thing is that the hobbit message is not reporting the correct ip address for the server. I have seen at least 2 different ip addresses in the failure message neither of them belong to the server or are any part of my ip space! 64.158.56.46 is not correct. I have checked bb-hosts and it is defined correctly. getting alert to call scripts

Hi, I've been getting a lot of these error messages in the hobbitd.log file lately. BOARDBUSY locked at 1, GETNCNT is 0, GETPID is 22130, 2 clients Then I need to do a restart to get updates in. My version is 4.2.0 Is there any information on this error? Tim Newton

Hello Everyone, I have had the hardest time getting cgi-bin to work right with the hobbit. When I create a directory to store machines in, it never picks up the cgi-bin. I get messages like: File does not exist: /home/hobbit/server/www/hp/cgi-bin Any ideas? Anyone have this working? problems configuring client?

Hi, I'm quite new to Hobbit and to this list. I managed to install hobbit on a server and also on a few clients. So far, so good. But now I have problems with just one client: It's data doesn't appear on the webpage. All other clients work well. To study the problem I did a tcpdump on the client and there was data send to the server. All machines run RHEL 4. The hobbitclient.cfg is identical on all machines. Only differences in configuration is that the failing client is also monitored for imaps and some rpc. The status of these is displayed. Any idea what could cause this problem? Where could I search for more information? Second question: I want to monitor if a usb drive is mounted. How best to do that? Is there a test/ an extension for this? Ciao, Andreas
