Monitoring 2 NICS-1 static 1 dynamic

Setting up hobbit on a server with 2 NICs. Server is a link between 2 networks, 1 has a static IP and the other is assigned dynamically by DHCP from a DC. How can I configure hobbit to monitor both NICS successfully? Id like to know which interface/NW(if any) has an outage Thanks for any help.

Changing Hobbit IP Address

We've been running Hobbit and bb parallel for quite a while now. It's now time to 'bite the bullet' and change over to Hobbit (hoo hoo!). I've swapped the IP Address of the machines (so that all of the clients do not have to be touched), rebooted and verified that the Hobbit machine is in fact the new address. I rebuilt Hobbit specifying the new address, restarted Hobbit and now the bbd process comes up red with the following display: ----- Sun Oct 23 10:33:00 2005 bbd ok : Ping failed, or dialup host/service Service bbd on hobbit1 is OK Dialup host/service, or test depends on another failed test Host appears to be down ----- The conn test for the Hobbit server also fails: ----- Sun Oct 23 10:33:00 2005 conn NOT ok Service conn on hobbit1 is not OK : Host does not respond to ping System unreachable for 13 poll periods (3623 seconds) red 172.17.0.13 is unreachable ----- 172.17.0.13 is the old address, the new address is 172.17.1.50. In bb-hosts I have: 172.17.1.50 hobbit1 # BBDISPLAY BBPAGER BBNET bbd http://hobbit1/ Which is the same as before, with just the new IP Address. So the only way currently is to make access to the ack-webpage dependant on a login (implemented by your webserver); then the login-name will appear on the acknowledge. If you select the "secure" webserver setup during Hobbit configuration, that should be the default setup. FreeBSD 5.4-stable and hobbit 4.1.2

acknowledging alerts

Hi, I have been working with Hobbit for a few months now and think it has some great enhancements to big brother. I was wondering with the acknowlegements of alerts if there was a way to tell who acknowledged the alert? I checked the mail archives and documentation but wasn't able to find anything. Graphing revisited

I've read the archived messages, the man pages and the doc and I still can not seem to get this right. [hobbit] Report Creation Error

Sorted it now, apache was running as user nobody but further down in the config file it had group -1 which my system didn't seem to like. Changed this to nobody and its working fine now. Group nobody is at 99 and if I try to set ownership to -1 it will think this an option. I don't think I can have a group -1! I'm not really sure why it's trying to run with this. trend graphs broken images

I have just installed hobbitmon on a VMWare Instance of RedHat 7.2. I followed the RRDTool build step by step and the hobbitmon procedure. Everything is working as designed except the graphs of trends at the bottom of the services pages and on the trends page are not being displayed. There is a broken image link. The static magnifying glass gif is OK. I checked the rrd files in data/rrd and did an rrdtool fetch, and the data is being populated. The http access logs indicates the call to hobbitgraph.sh is returning a 200. I've attempted to activate debugging with "--debug" in the hobbitcgi.cfg file for hobbitgraph.sh, but cannot locate where that is logging. When I try and run the hobbitgraph.sh from the command line, it executes but says I did not supply the right arguments. Any ideas/suggestions? Report Creation Error

Hi, Just built a new Hobbit server using the latest version off sourceforge as a demo implementation server. Everything is working fine apart from the availability reporting and snapshot report. Availability report gives this error: Could not generate report. Check that the /usr/local/hobbit/server/www/rep/ directory has permissions '-rwxrwxr-x' (775) and that is is set to group -1 Permissions for the directory have been set to 775. I've never had a problem with reporting with any previous version of Hobbit. Using RHEL3 running as user hobbit with apache running as 'nobody'. Log files are empty so no problems there. Is it a fault with my Apache config or just permissions, anyone else had this? Thanks, Craig Whilding
