[hobbit] bb-hostedit v1.1 beta released

I am having a hard time with this. I followed th install instructions (very easy) but when I try to call it, I get: Can't continue after import errors at /home/hobbit/server/bin/bb-hostedit.pl line 36 BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /home/hobbit/server/bin/bb-hostedit.pl line 36. Line 36 looks like this: use CGI::Carp qw(warningsToBrowser fatalsToBrowser); Where did I make my error? Hi I noticed if I disable a service I get the alert email right away using the rule HOST=%(.*) MAIL $ONCALL NOTICE NOALERT But if I schedule one I don't get the alert. Invalid Mail

Hobbit is apparently attempting to send mail out to 20 at myhost.com and REPEAT at myhost.com and it's bouncing back. Any idea why this would be occurring? I know my MAIL settings for hobbit-alerts are correct as I have tested them extensively. Please let me know, this is becoming a nuisance. Thanks, Tom Callahan

Am I using the dialup directive correctly? This is what I have: page WAN Routers group-compress Cisco Routers 172.16.98.250 dialup.tigr.org # ssh ntp DESCR:" :G-1" # group Dialup Connections dialup modem-bank 172.16.98.10 48 # but all I seem to get is an error under bbgen: Error output: Confused - hostname 'modem-bank' cannot be found. Ignored Dialup.tigr.org is the dns name of the router. Take a look at the hobbitd_larrd man page... (look for data and status messages) No, you do not need RRD installed on any client. Detailed documentation for migrating a customised BB LARRD setup to hobbit does not exist yet. [hobbit] Mrtg with Hobbit

I have integrated MRTG using the "old" method. Well, sort of... One way of doing this is to use the latest "bb-mrtg.pl" script from deadcat. Run this script from your bb-client that runs on your hobbit server. You can use this trick for any "bb-server" scripts that you need to migrate to hobbit (except for LARRD). The bb-mrtg.pl script has install instructions in it. I am not sure if the integrated hobbit version will automatically alarm when thresholds are breached, the bb-mrtg.pl version will. Strange trends-'feature'.

Hi Henrik, In my configuration of a Linux BB-server and using BBRELAY to a Solaris 8 Hobbit 4.0.4 server, I have added the memory test from deadcat ( bb-memory-3.1.tar.gz) on one host. In particular, the host were the Hobbit server resides, the memory test is being performed by the bb client. It sends the data to the BBDISPLAY and it shows up correctly on the Hobbit server. No problem. However, the memory trend is available under trends, but... now on *each* host. There is no memory button like it should. But when I click the trends-column for that host, there is a meaningless memory graph! On the Hobbit server, *each* host has two new rrd-files were no test is being performed: ... ./EachHost/memory.real.rrd ./EachHost/memory.swap.rrd ... Only one node, the node were the memroy test was added to bb-bbexttab, has also the actual rrd-file, next to the previous two-files: ./HostWithMemoryTest/memory.real.rrd ./HostWithMemoryTest/memory.swap.rrd ./HostWithMemoryTest/memory.actual.rrd Thanks, Peter

BBNET replacement.

I have a central BBDISPLAY server and 3 BBNET servers. Can I replace one BBNET server with a hobbit NET server without any problems ? So a step by step transition from BB to Hobbit. BR Thomas

Hobbit runs on the same port 'tcp/1984) than bigbrother. Did you stop the bb server ?
