Hi, So while discussing monitoring with my coworkers, the most common statement is: I don't really care if one server in a certain pool goes into error. I only want to get paged if 5 or 10 in that same pool do. I've been trying to figure out how to make this work in hobbit. I suppose a paging script which keeps track of hosts in error and only pages if above that number would be possible. But would this be something more easily done within hobbit itself? Yeah, that makes sense. It hasn't happened again since I started it, but I was also a little wary of an ntp check I added, so I removed that. (I added an ntp check which wasn't showing up, and after I stopped hobbit I noticed a few spawned ntpdate processes sticking around. Probably unrelated.) -- Bruce Z. Hi guys, So I recently upgraded our main hobbit installation to 4.0.4. Everything appeared fine, and then all of a sudden http/smtp/dns monitors all purpled. I haven't been able to find anything in the logs yet, but I'm still looking. Looking for something to stop the paging assault, I stop/started hobbit, and the purples cleared. Any ideas? -- Bruce Z. Hi All Currently I have a cron job that creates the html SLA report. I run this $BBHOME/bin/bbgen --reportopts=$START:$END:1:crit \ --ignorecolumns=ssh,bbgen,bbtest,hobbitd,info,trends,msgs,scanmsg,http --subpagecolumns=2 \ /usr/local/apache/htdocs/reports/monthly/$YEAR/$MONTH to get my report every night. How do I modify this to generate a CSV format? [hobbit] Remove unwanted column

Hi Henrik, I should of read the manual for that one, Thanks. That has removed the column but I am having alerts emailed for one of the hosts advising the host has stopped reporting, All other hosts did this for a period and then stopped but one host has not. New Hobbit Server Crashing

Running Hobbit 4.0.4 on RedHat ES3. I configured the server at my house and everything worked fine, but when I took it to work and changed the IP address, the display does not show any hosts and I'm getting things like this in the logs: bb-network.log & bb-retest.log 2005-06-14 14:13:29 Whoops ! bb failed to send message - timeout There doesn't seem to be any core dump files, and if I go to the hobbit page, I can see the subpage headings, but no hosts are listed. I know this isn't much info, so let me know what else I can give you... Thanks, Michael

Bug in "bb disable" command - Not urgent

I found a bug in the bb disable command. When I issue the command, bb bbserver "disable server.tst 2h Some sort of message" the appropriate server and tests are disabled for 2 hours but the Cause on the info page shows "h Some sort of message". However, I had a few problems with the iostat graph definition in hobbitgraph.cfg as included in the hobbit-4.0.4 distribution. This means you get a legenda like this (simplified to save space): B <B-cur> <B-max>\n <B-min> <B-avg> asvc_t <A-cur> <A-max>\n <A-min> <A-avg> wsvc_t <W-cur> <W-max>\n <W-min> <W-avg> By moving the linebreaks to the end of the GPRINT line for (avg) you would get a better lay-out: B <B-cur> <B-max> <B-min> <B-avg>\n asvc_t <A-cur> <A-max> <A-min> <A-avg>\n wsvc_t <W-cur> <W-max> <W-min> <W-avg>\n (3) The line COMMENT:@RRDPARAM@\n is not really needed since it only repeats the text already shown in the LINE2 line (unless you add more graphs for the same filesystem). (4) on the other hand, a COMMENT:\n as separator after the GPRINT lines would improve the lay-out of the legenda I attached a patch file that fixes these problems.
