Hobbit is an open source network services monitor for Linux (it also runs on Linux for zSeries). This package runs in a virtual machine and reports on CPU Utilization, Paging, Page and Spool Utilization, running virtual machines and SFS Filepool and filespace utilization. That would seem extremely useful. I was thinking about notifications as well, and my first thought was just to notify on every recovery (if you've selected RECOVERED). That way you would know if a single host kept doing a down/up/down/up/down/up type of thing. This would work alright in my environment since hosts that go into error for any length of time tend not to fix themselves anyways. :) -- Bruce Z. Hobbitd_history crashing

Hobbit 4.0.4 Fedora Core 3 My hobbitd_history has crashed several times in the past few weeks. It goes red with "Fatal signal caught" then it goes purple. Check the client on the windows machine. Alternate Pagesets Problem

Hello I have still a problem with my bb-hosts file that i had transfer to hobbit. In bb/bbgen the same hostfile works fine. A problem was that the second page definitions came after the first entry of host. I have now all page definitions first in bb-hosts file and now the message in the pageset log is gone. But now i see the host twice on both pages. Hi, So while discussing monitoring with my coworkers, the most common statement is: I don't really care if one server in a certain pool goes into error. I only want to get paged if 5 or 10 in that same pool do. I've been trying to figure out how to make this work in hobbit. I suppose a paging script which keeps track of hosts in error and only pages if above that number would be possible. But would this be something more easily done within hobbit itself? Yeah, that makes sense. It hasn't happened again since I started it, but I was also a little wary of an ntp check I added, so I removed that. Hi guys, So I recently upgraded our main hobbit installation to 4.0.4. Everything appeared fine, and then all of a sudden http/smtp/dns monitors all purpled. I haven't been able to find anything in the logs yet, but I'm still looking. Looking for something to stop the paging assault, I stop/started hobbit, and the purples cleared. Any ideas? -- Bruce Z.
