I'm assuming you'd still want a BB client on your Hobbit server, if not, ignore... but you can still do those things in the ext folder on the BB client piece and it should still report them to Hobbit as usual. I have a few scripts from BB server now running in my BB client in the same manner. In "Configuring Hobbit Alerts" it says: SECS Number of seconds the service has been down. will be in the environment of the alert scripts. The variables actual name is DOWNSECS. Thanks, Larry Barber

Hi, I'd like to set a global rule in hobbit-alerts.cfg, to receive an e-mail for any non green event. (hobbit 4.0.4 on aix 5.2). So I tried to add those lines at the bottom of the config file : HOST=.* SERVICE=.* MAIL my_email at my_domain COLOR=yellow MAIL my_email at my_domain COLOR=red MAIL my_email at my_domain COLOR=purple But I don't receive any mail, even if some tests aren't green. The page.log doesn't show anything either. I tried to add the --debug option in the hobbitlaunch.cfg, but page.log only show this 2005-07-06 16:18:49 Setting up page channel (id=3) 2005-07-06 16:18:49 calling ftok('~hobbit/server',3) 2005-07-06 16:18:49 ftok() returns: 0x3000093 2005-07-06 16:18:49 shmget() returns: 0x60008 Any idea ? We have some application processes that run at regular intervals or prescribed times every day that cause certain client resource services to alert such as cpu, procs, memory. These service hits are not critical issues during this prescribed time period, but might be any other time of the day. Other examples might include 100% cpu utilization during a database backup or a heavy batch process. Is there a way to define the equivalent of the DOWNTIME directive for an individual server (cpu, procs) instead of applying it to ALL services? If so, is this a server or client side configuration (bb-hosts or BB client)?

I'll leave the default as-is, but you can now customize it as you like by setting a NETFAILTEXT variable in hobbitserver.cfg. You can make it "FAILED", "NOT ok", "has gone belly-up", ... Henrik, If you don't see a problem with it, could you captilize "not" in the messages generated by bbtest-net.c? $ grep -nw "OK" bbtest-net.c 1602: strcat(msgtext, "OK "); 1620: strcat(msgtext, "not OK.\nThe "); 1628: strcat(msgtext, "not OK : "); 1635: strcat(msgtext, "OK\n"); 1675: strcat(msgtext, "OK\n"); I've had a few techs who only read the message body and not the subjet line and don't notice the "not" in "not OK" when the conn status is red. They see "OK" and think all is well.... I'm training them to read the subject heading first, but thought this might be minor change you'd like. Hobbit does not replace &color with image

Hello, I've found a problem with hobbit 4.0.4 including all available patches. The script I'm talking of is written for an old bb server with bbgen 2.16. I send the following to the server: &green item &yellow item &red item BB produces the expected output and places a green (or yellow or red) image in the generated html page. It replaces &green with the path and filename of the green image. Hobbit now behaves a litte bit strange. The &green is not replaced. No image is shown in the html page. Btw. bbgen 3.5 shows the same stra´nge behaviour. Can anyone explain to me what's wrong. Or has something changed in hobbit and bbgen? Thanks Thomas
