Hi, I have for each host-macro and service-macro 3 lines with different times of alerting. This works fine for alerts, but I get always 3 recovered messages. I added RECOVERED after each line. Does RECOVERED doesn't recordnize the time-parameter? Thx Thomas

Is anyone using hobbit to monitor smtps (secure smtp) ? I am unable to get hobbit to use STARTTLS as I get this error message: Unspecified SSL error in SSL_connect to smtp (6400/tcp) on host xxx.xxx.xxx.xx: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol bb-hosts looks like this: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx hostname # smtps and bb-services looks like this: [smtps] send "mail\r\nquit\r\n" expect "220" options ssl,banner # No default port-number assignment for smtps - nonstandard according to IANA port 25 any idea ?

Arithmetic exception in hobbitd_client

Henrik, would you mind take a look on my next problem? :) As just reported, hobbitd_client module stopped work. This is probably because i copied the fresh compiled hpux-meminfo tool to my client machine. On this machine this tool reports following: [memory] Total:0 Free:0 Any ideas why this happens? On my server machine, where the client is present as well - the memory is well reported. [memory] Total:2047 Free:432 Anyway, hobbitd_client crashes leaving a core file. I've hobbit 4.1.1 on linux and it work fine, but i received a false down of a server: red Tue Aug 2 07:32:01 2005 conn NOT ok Service conn on banchi is not OK : Host does not respond to ping System unreachable for 2 poll periods (86 seconds) &red x.x.x.x is unreachable The server is up and if i go in hobbi i see the connection up, without ani problem The subjet report a 0 id: Hobbit [0] banchi:conn CRITICAL (RED) The problem born 2 days ago when i changed an hd on this server, but hobbit see both down and up state... External Tests

Does anyone have a sample external test for Hobbit.....I have a few external BigBrother tests that I would like to port over to hobbit. I dont plan on installing a BigBrother client on these boxes, just plan on using the hobbitclient. I tried using the hobbitclient scripts as an example but not having too much success, however I havent dug into it too deep yet. Hi Henrik, i would like to know if bbhostshow/grep are actually reading the bb- hosts files on disk or if they are only accessing the structure in memory ? Olivier

acklog in bb2 question

Hi all, Currently i have in my bb2.html : "No events acknowledged in the last 240 minutes" i would like to change those 240 minutes into 24 hours, only for the acklog.sh. is these an option for this ? can i change a value somewhere in the source ? -- Olivier Beau

Repeating Alerts

I need to alternate alerts between two recipients every ten minutes until alert is acknowledged or fixed. I'd like to notify "user 1" after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 50 minutes, etc. and "user 2" after 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 60 minutes, etc. For testing, the alert is defined like: HOST=testhost.syr.edu MAIL user1 at syr.edu FORMAT=TEXT DURATION>10 REPEAT=20 MAIL user2 at syr.edu FORMAT=SMS DURATION>20 REPEAT=20 The reality is that alerts go to user1 at 10 minutes, nobody at 20 minutes, both users at 30 minutes, nobody at 40 minutes, both users at 50 minutes, and so on. hpux client optimization

Hi Henrik, Hi Folks, thanks for your help prior, at the moment the server seems to be stable on hpux. Here are some smaller OS related problems with client i noticed. Withing [source]/client/Makefile 3 ifeq ($(OSTYPE),hpux) 4 EXTRATOOLS=hpux-meminfo ..should be hp-ux i guess. At the moment it remains uncompiled. Within "hobbitclient-hp-ux.sh" you redirect output of TOP command, but this not works. The output looks like [?25h[m[H[2J7[1;24r8System: myserver[38CWed Aug 3 14:18:54 2005 Something like this works for me: echo "[top]" top -d 1 -f $BBHOME/tmp/top.OUT cat $BBHOME/tmp/top.OUT rm $BBHOME/tmp/top.OUT Hope it helps. Odd column after upgrade

Attached is a screenshot of a column that appeared after a 4.04 -> 4.1.1 on OpenBSD 3.2 box. How do I get rid of it? Thanks, Lee
