1.2.3.4 prod-db2 # ssh pulldata TRENDS:*,disk:disk|disk1,vmstat:vmstat1 DOWNTIME=*:0159:0400:Database_Resync 1.2.3.5 prod-db3 # ssh pulldata TRENDS:*,disk:disk|disk1,vmstat:vmstat1 DOWNTIME=*:0159:0400:Database_Resync My hobbitd status currently says: "Invalid timespec - expected 4 digits, got: 'Database_Resync'" I see nothing wrong with my syntax, the bb-hosts man page says: DOWNTIME=day:starttime:endtime:cause[,day:starttime:endtime:cause] What am I doing wrong? Also, is it possible to specify DOWNTIME per service? Because I do not want to put the entire host into maint mode, just the "procs", in this case.

Just another Feature Request: Firefox live bookmark on pages that have rss defined :D

Hi Henrik :D Continuing on the feature request series :D Do you think it's possible to implement a Firefox Live Bookmark on the pages generated by Hobbit? It's a link like: <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="sometitle" href="http://bbserver/page/page.rss" /> For normal pages or <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="sometitle" href="http://bbserver/bb2.rss" /> For the bb2 page It could be a nice feature just to add the rss feed generated by hobbit with a simple click ... Main Page setup and RRDTools

We are evaluating Hobbit to replace Big Brother and my boss has two questions. The first is how can we modify the main (startup) page and put the subpage list below the client list, and can we take the RRDTool information that we have been collecting prior to this, and integrate it into Hobbits RRDTools data? Hobbit client w/ BB server

Will this work? We will be migrating to hobbit, but they want to roll out a few more clients. I'd like to keep them from having to do another install on the box. Stewart

allevents stops updating after trimhistory

Henrik, On Solaris 9 hobbit 4.1.2 and RedHat 4 hobbit 4.2 I ran trimhistory and noticed the next day that no events were listed at the bottom of the bb2 page. Working on my 4.2 test system I found hist/allevents stopped updating after running trimhistory. Restarting hobbit got it working again. Hobbit should not require any additional restarts after running trimhistory or it should be mentioned in the man page. Thanks, John

hobbit client init script

Hi The way the hobbit init script works (at least on debian), a lot of processes are left running on the host when doing a "/etc/init.d/hobbit-client stop". Is there any reason for this? Cheers, Gildas

Patch for 4.2.0

This could be useful for other too so I'll post it on the list .. I've patched the 4.2.0 with latest patches and I've applied some little change I was doing in the last couple of days. Those are small change that will not influence the way hobbit is working for a normal setup. They're just a bunch of line for each modification. This is a small description on what is changed on each single file: - bbdisplay/bbgen.c : Don't disable rss and wml in pagesets. If the user don't want them for pagesets they can leave out the options to generate them while running bbgen - hobbitd/rrd/do_disk.c (bugfix): While using /group option of the bb command if the status is green the first line will not be skipped at all and will generate one more rrd files. - lib/htmllog.c : If the message has already a  tag inside of the message don't count the line but get that value. This will also make the client that will use it work without having to modify the multigraphs settings - web/hobbitgraph.c : Modify FNPATTERN to have a default "^" in front of the file spec. If it's needed to get some file with pattern in the middle of the file you can put a +* in front of the pattern but at least for all the default graph it will not create any problem and it will allow for using rrd filename containing for example the word "disk" in the middle without distrupting the disk graph. The patch is against 4.2.0 with the allinone.patch of 3/10/2006. For Henrik, I've sent you some mails (also this one) in the last few days but I think I get some problems to send email directly to you... Francesco

Remote Status Display

Hi, I have a central hobbit server running in my office and a second one in our office in Cologne. I've created a summary line in the bb-hosts in Cologne and I get the Remote Status Display here on the web site of my central server, so far everything works fine. If somethings happens in Cologne I can only see it in the chapter "Remote Status Display" of my central hobbit server. But is there a possibility to change the status color of the web site of my central hobbit server in case of an problem in Cologne, too? Regards Chris -- Dipl. Ing. "Disable until OK" doesn't get logged in $BBDISABLED?

Hello, I'm currently upgrading to Hobbit 4.2.0 (our old systems still run 4.0.4) and I have an issue with a DeadCat BB extension called "show_blue.sh". It turns out that disabling something "until OK" doesn't write a log in $BBDISABLED, while disabling something with a specific duration will. Re-enabling such a test by hand will also result in a "Could not remove disable-file" log entry in the enadis.log file. show_blue is intended to show all disabled tests in the "All non-green view" and uses the files in $BBDISABLED to determine which tests are disabled, the behaviour above makes it impossible for show_blue to determine all disabled tests. What can I do to get show_blue working correctly with "disable until OK"? Best regards, Eric.
