MRTG Integration - Graph titles

Hello, Running Hobbit Monitor 4.2.0 I'm using the instructions found in hobbit-mrtg.html. I've created my MRTG config files, using RRD and the appropriate WorkDir. Also setup the Directory statements. In fact, I see my RRD files going into the correct path. And clicking on the trends column for a various server shows new graphs. My only problem, is the graph titles seem odd. The legend on each graph is correct (as I've given in the Target name). But the title is always "Server Name Network Traffic (MRTG)" Is there a way for it to use my TITLE tag from the MRTG config file? Thanks Shane

Hello, I must be blind, but I am having a hard time finding documentation on setting up my hobbit server to push new client code. I know the feature is new under 4.2.0, but I cannot find how to configure it. I know I have overlooked it somewhere. Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction. Thanks! P.S. I too am looking forward to the 4.2.1 release!

New version is out with 3 nice new features: 1) DB2 connection and tablespace report. 2) Report of what the script did in a column called like the script on the host where the script is running (all errors and warning will also be reported here). 3) Custom query engine to write your own query (If you want to share them you can put them on the hobbit_perl_client forum on sourceforge or send them to me and I'll try to put them there for everyone to use). As always it can be downloaded http://sourceforge.net/projects/hobbit-perl-cl/ or from http://www.deadcat.net The custom query engine in a bit experimental so be sure to try your query and check all the parameters. The documentation is not so good but you can find how it work in the example ini files (I think I'll finish to write some documentation before starting to put more functionality into the scripts :D) so If you need any info feel free to contact me via mail/forum. Francesco Changes to this version: Hobbit_fd_lib.pm 1.13 (general library) - now the scripts will send a status report to hobbit into a column on the server where the scripts are running to do a summary of what was done (total and host running time, total and color/event of messages sent, total host checked and test done for each host, a list of warning and error got from the scripts). For dbcheck if you use the fast/slow kind of check you will have 2 columns one called dbcheck_fast and one dbcheck_slow. - new general (for the 3 scripts) option warningout that can be equal to "log", "send", "both" and will influence how warning are treated. If it's "log" it will simply out the warning to the hobbit log file, "send" will send the warning into the status report of the test, "both" will do both the things (check ini files to see hot this work). Hey Henrik, I'm playing around with the Ports monitoring that is built into Hobbit. I'm planning to use the graphing function to trend the number of connections for a particular port...the questions I have are: 1) Why can I not set a minimun of 0? I thought that by explicitly specifying 0 for the min count I should be able to have it always be green and graph the number of connections...however, it seems that Hobbit is overriding the hard 0 setting. 2) when using TEXT="Some Service", it shows up on the web page as "Some Service...leading quote visible...I'm assuming this is not expected behavior...I haven't checked the patch page yet but I'll be headed there next. Note, this is Hobbit 4.2...August download. =G=

Page name in header / footer files

We are in the process of creating custom header / footer files for our implementation of hobbit. Everything is going smoothly (the bulletin_header / footer files made things MUCH easier), but we have run into a couple of snags. Right now we are putting all the meta tag and page TITLE info (and a few of the page specific JS functions) into the normal bb_header, bb2_header, etc files, while removing all the other information normally contained in those files. We then created a bulletin_header file and moved everything else into that file. This helps us to have a standard look to all of the pages such that when we want to make a change to the appearance we only have to change the bulletin files. One of the problems with method is the page name ("Current Status", "Current non-green Systems", "EventLog", etc). Because there is no variable for this, we have no easy way to put the page name into the page body. Do you have any plans to add this variable? Because the bbgen already knows the name of the page, couldn't you just create two dimensional array or lookup table to populate this variable? The other issue we have encountered deals with the 'FONT' tags. We are converting the page to be styled using css, but the hardcoded fonts make this more difficult. We are able to unset some of the font information by setting the font variables in hobbitserver.cfg to be blank, but some of the fonts are hardcoded. What do you think about making these hardcoded fonts variables instead? How about not printing the FONT tag when the variable assigned to it (MKBBACKFONT, MKBBCOLFONT, MKBBROWFONT, etc) are set to be blank? What do you think about having a header / footer for the help files? FWIW: We are using version 4.2.0 on Solaris 8. Thanks for all the great work. We have been big fans of hobbit since converting from BB to hobbit 4.0.2.
