Hello all, I recently discovered a nice tool within Hobbit, the bbcmd command. As far as I understood it can execute some command and pass environment variables to it. But I just do not catch everything if for i.e. I want to execute the bb-rep.cgi. What must I do? Insert the environment in a file and then pass to the bbcmd? Like this? File content, report.cfg: BBREP="/home/hobbit/test/" START-MON=Feb START-DAY=9 START-YR=2007 END-MON=Feb END-DAY=16 END-YR=2007 STYLE=crit Or another way? And the command: bbcmd -env=report.cfg bb-rep.cgi. The aim of this is to try to enhance the report script some people in the list have received from. Enhance it in a way that it automatically fetches the .csv file and analyze it. If I come to a solution in some way or another I will make that update script available. fping/hobbitping problem

Greetings, I'm upgrading from BB to hobbit today (:-), and have a small problem with fping or hobbitping I can't seen to get around. Initially I configured hobbit to use fping since that is what we've been using and the message in the config say that hobbitping is "unstable". But I get a red face on the bbtest column of the server and the message on the detail page says that fping -Ae failed. My fping doesn't have a -A option. I went to the fping.org page and it doesn't have a -A option, either. I haven't been able to find where in the sources the flags are set for fping to change it to something else (like -ae ???). Then I reconfigged and remade hobbit to use hobbitping, but the problem persists. ? Is there another version of fping I'm not aware of? Why does hobbitping have the same problem?? [hobbit] Is there a way to show all monitored hosts on one page?

Is there a way in Hobbit that you can bring up a page that shows ALL monitored hosts on a single page? The page/sub-page hierarchy of monitored hosts in Hobbit works 95% of the time, but there are occasions where I need to see everything that is being monitoring, regardless of status, on a single page. One such case would be to see which hosts have a CLEAR status for message monitoring. Or another example would be to see all of the hosts at once, so I can see which ones aren't being checked for files or ports monitoring. I know I could come up with a way to grep through the bb-hosts file for this information, but it'd be nice to see this in the usual Hobbit webpage interface. Any ideas?

How do I do this in hobbit way? A footer with the receipient from info column with every alert for the service. Sorry, I just read the other mails in this thread that you get a "Premature end of script headers ..." which is an indication that the bb-hostsvc.sh CGI crashed. So - time to debug this. On your Hobbit server, run these commands: ulimit -c unlimited QUERY_STRING="HOST=YOURHOSTNAME&SERVICE=info" REQUEST_METHOD=GET SCRIPT_NAME="bb-hostsvc.sh" export QUERY_STRING REQUEST_METHOD SCRIPT_NAME ~hobbit/cgi-bin/bb-hostsvc.sh Supposedly, this will crash - the last few linies it writes before the crash are interesting. Hopefully, it will also dump a core file in your current directory. Graphs are fuzzy and distorted : Solaris 8/sparc

Hi hobbit list, after installing hobbit server on a Solaris 8 machine a couple of days ago with a couple of clients, all solaris8 / sparc I got issues with graphs generation, it gives some fuzzy results with the drawed data line, going up or down, or graphic filling with colors It is also drawing big black X above all the legend's solid-colored squares Here is the source code I used to build rrdtool : rrdtool-1.2.17 freetype-2.3.0 libart_lgpl-2.3.17 libpng-1.2.15 Can anyone point me to something wrong I would have done ? I cant find any errors in apache or in hobbit logs Thank you Yannick

Status Question

Is there any way to query hobbit directly via an external script (separate from hobbit) so that I can get the current status of a device and display the status dot on a floor plan (or in this case, a hand-crafted web page with our floor plans as jpegs)? What would I query? The reason I ask is that there is other information that I might want to monitor besides the connectivity status of the device. At this point I am looking for any suggestions as to the best way for doing this. If possible, I would like to have this process separate from hobbit - but I completely understand if I need to have the script run by hobbit. Has anyone done this, or should I not even consider this?
