Multiple yellow to red

Hey, I'll admit I haven't put a lot of legwork into this but...is it possible to configure hobbit to go red on a test after a certain number of cycles at yellow? I have some tests that I don't mind if they are yellow for small period but if they are there too long I need to know. I could probably handle this with a script but it'd be nice if hobbit could handle it out of the box...maybe extend COLOR or DURATION... HOST=* COLOR=3*yellow blah blah blah MAIL admin at foo.com That would alert after it was yellow for 3 cycles...or would a DURATION alert work...hurmmmmmm... =G=

Acknowledgements & History

All, I was curious if there was a reason why when an alert is acknowledged, why that acknowledgement is not displayed in History. In my mind an acknowledgement is a state change, i.e. Red -> to Red-acked. This would also help when performing audits on help-desk responsiveness to alerts in Hobbit. It would also help, when an alert acknowledgement expires. presently my team treats the alert as a new incident. It would be very helpful if they could check the history and see that the alert was previously acknowledged and what the ack-blurb was. Or are acks more of a BB legacy thing, and I should really be using disabled/maint of tests ? Thoughts ? ~Steve

ifstat and e1000g Ethernet driver

Hi, The solaris regular expression in hobbitd/rrd/do_ifstat.c (Hobbit 4.2.0) does not work for the "e1000g" Ethernet driver found on certain Sparc T2000 system. monitoring xen machine status from Dom0

Has anyone started thinking about or working on script(s) to monitor xen machines from the Dom0? It would be nice to have some of the data that xentop and other tools display in Hobbit and I would rather work with others on this list to develop the scripts rather than do everything on my own, if possible. Problem since upgrading to 4.2.0 from 4.1 - "data flooding from"

I've just upgraded my Hobbit server from 4.1 to 4.2 (on a Gentoo 2006.1 host), having had a need for "Disabled until OK" :) The trouble that I now have is that reports from the client part of the server install are never making it through - all tests have turned purple and the log is full of "data flooding from 127.0.0.1, closing connection". I even reverted the client directory to the default from the installer, with no change. Pointers to how to further diagnose this, or even better resolve it, appreciated. -- Please keep list traffic on the list. Hobbit Server performance

All, Have been taking a look at my hobbit server for the past week or so. Wanted to ask a couple things. The server is a DL360 G3 with two 3ghz processors and 2gb of RAM. It does only hobbit and cricket (10 or so routers, so not a huge hit) I've noticed the following two things: #1. I am constantly using 100% of my physical ram (no swap really) Mem: 2075040k total, 2051928k used, 23112k free, 52172k buffers Swap: 0k total, 0k used, 0k free, 1744168k cached is this normal? Not sure how to tell which process specifically is eating up the most RAM. #2. I am consistantly running with 2-300 ports in TIME_WAIT involving port 1984 # netstat -an | grep TIME | grep 1984 | wc -l 253 Im not sure if this is normal either, nor am I sure if it is bad or not? e-mail reply ending up as new e-mail

I'm using yahoo mail, and all my submissions to the Hobbit Group are interpreted as new e-mails. I thought the e-mail receiver would interpret e-mails with "RE: " in Subject as replies to existing e-mails. Alas, no. How do I submit a reply to existing e-mails in Hobbit Group mail, as a Follow-Up? Thank you --------------------------------- Be smarter than spam. Fellow hobbits, This morning my hobbit summery page (bb2.html) says "No events received in the last 240 minutes" when actually several have been received over the last couple of hours. It shows 2 acks, but no event history. Where could this be getting messed up? Thanks, Steve Holmes

Sorry, I should have given an example like this: /export 85% 90% alert usergroup at email.com /export 96% 98% alert admins at email.com ...where the two values are Yellow and Red. Yellow emails, and Red pages. Also, this is on two systems in our infrastructure.
