like http and https, ldap and ldaps the secure communication channels are usually requested by big organizaton. I am happy to see hobbit and hobbts ports can be done via stunnel. SNMP device monitoring cab be done via devmon perl script is also quite exciting to me. High Availability is the last solution I don't have. Without source code changes in hobbit server side I am thinking of using Sun Cluster 3.2 plus AVS or having hobbit server running as VMware sessions in VMWare with HA support. I am wondering how other solaris hobbit users tackle this HA requirement ? T.J. This helps them know immediately to "call for help" or to try and login themselves. 2) Saw an issue that only affected RedHat Linux servers, but I did not realize for a couple of weeks. Once the OS icon feature went in, the scope of the issue to RedHat was obvious. I am thinking the OS might be known from the client, rather than having to define it on the server. Hi, i have made some edit on the hobbit-sources. When working in a enterprise, i found useful to see also two icons next the hostname: os and critical. Os could be windows,linux,aix,etc....and critical usually is gold|silver|bronze. I used the DESCR options in bb-hosts (DESCR:os:critical), hobbit will search for icons with the same name adding ".gif" in ~hobbit/server/www/. If someone needs the gifs just email me. Maybe will be nice to add it as a new feature in hobbit5.0. Soaris dtrace static probes for hobbit ?

I saw NFS4 dtrace static probes(R2) submitted in opensolaris forum. I am not good at dtrace yet, my current understanding is that we can insert dtrace static probes into hobbit souce code level (Ref2)to provide more debugging points. It is like running perl script with perl -d and breakpoints have been set already. Looks cool and useful. Any other Solaris hobbit users working on this ? I am able to test out stunnel 4.20 with hobbit-4.2.0 client/server. One thing I am not clear is that will hobbit server got a chance to send commands to hobbit client via stunnel before the session is closed. Should be, I guess. See R1 for detail. T.J. Hi, How would I count the number of currently reporting clients, as well as the number of hosts (non-clients) that Hobbit is monitoring? I have a backup Hobbit server, and want to check that it is receiving data from the same number of clients, and well as the same number of hosts it is monitoring (ie. without client installed). Bottom-line, to ensure that when I make change to the primary server, verify that the back-up is also updated accordingly. Thank you, Ye-Fee --------------------------------- Be smarter than spam. Possible Bug in 4.3.0-0.20070722 snapshot

I found a possible bug in the 4.3.0-0.20070722 snapshot. In the web/hobbitsvc.c (v 1.80 2007/07/18 21:20:15) This variable is set: static char *multigraphs = ",disk,inode,qtree,"; With this set the option in the hobbitcgi.cfg for CGI_SVC_OPTS=" --multi-graphs" never gets used. (This is how I found it, trying to use --multi-graphs=if_load,if_err) The if statement in the htmllog.c on line 369 is never hit since multigraph is never NULL. htmllog.c,v 1.59 2007/07/21 16:13:18 if (multigraphs == NULL) multigraphs = ",disk,inode,qtree,"; I change the hobbitsvc.c to static char *multigraphs = NULL; the if statement in htmllog.c now hits because multigraphs is NULL, however could I have possibly broken other tests with this change? SO far I havent found anything broken in my beta deployment of the snapshot, Also has this been fixed in newer snapshots? Thanks Trent

Hi all, I'm seeing the following information in my client logs and it raises a couple of questions 2007-07-27 16:14:07 Task emcpp terminated, status 5 2007-07-27 16:14:07 Task temp terminated, status 5 2007-08-01 08:12:34 Task emcpp terminated, status 7 2007-08-01 08:12:34 Task temp terminated, status 7 First, is there any way to debug this?
