HIDEHTTP only hiding data under content column, not under http and sslcert columns

I have an http content test to keep an eye on a third party provider, and I'm using the HIDEHTTP tag to attempt to keep the URL and response content private. However, the HIDEHTTP tag only works for the info under the content column, not for the URL displayed under the http and sslcert columns. Is that expected behavior?

Solaris - Multi-cpu Test

Hello All, Is there any kind of test written for Hobbit or in Hobbit that monitors systems with Multiple Cpu's and determines if a cpu board is out. Example: We are utilizing Solaris Servers which have several CPU's. Recently one of the CPU boards went out on a system reducing the number of cpu's. However, no alerts from Hobbit. I want to detect this. Does anyone know of a test? Thanks..James James Wade

Xen Hobbit Monitoring Script

Hello, I work with Tom Georgoulias over at McClatchy Interactive, he suggested that I share a python Xen VM Monitoring script I wrote for our systems. I've uploaded it to: http://eiknet.com/mi-vt.py.bz2 This script is handy in that it sends information from the Dom0 on behalf of the DomUs. This way VM data shows up in hobbit with the rest of the DomU host information, giving you the following information updated correctly even if you migrate/move the DomU to another Dom0: Virtual Machine Status State: Blocked HostServerMemUsed: 49.99% MaxMemSet: 2048 MB CurMemSet: 2047 MB VCPUs: 2 Dom0: hostname It also reports information about all DomUs on behalf of the Dom0: Virtual Machine Status Host Server Specs MB Memory: 8191 Num CPUs: 2 Num Cores: 4 CPU MHz: 2666 hostname01 State: Blocked HostServerMemUsed: 12.49% MaxMemSet: 1024 MB CurMemSet: 1023 MB VCPUs: 2 hostname02 State: Blocked HostServerMemUsed: 24.99% MaxMemSet: 2048 MB CurMemSet: 2047 MB VCPUs: 2 hostname03 State: Blocked HostServerMemUsed: 24.99% MaxMemSet: 2048 MB CurMemSet: 2047 MB VCPUs: 2 hostname04 State: Blocked HostServerMemUsed: 6.24% MaxMemSet: 512 MB CurMemSet: 511 MB VCPUs: 2 The scripts turns yellow on the system being paused, and red on the system being crashed, dying or in shutdown states. Thanks a lot Josh, the two things that you mentioned in your answer solved my problem, the change in the hobbitgraph.cfg and add your extra-rrd.pl script. After those changes I only had to add in the exception file of the devmon template, wich interfaces I want to graph and it is working!!! MySQL replication status checker

I just got bit hard by a MySQL replication error, so I'm about to write a Hobbit client-side ext script that will check the local servers slave status (CHECK SLAVE STATUS \G), parse the output, and alert appropriately (red if Slave Running = No, or if Seconds Behind Master >300, yellow if Seconds Behind Master <300 but > 60...otherwise green). If anyone already has a script that does this, please let me know, and let's put it on The Shire. If nobody else has one, I will whip one up and share it. -Charles

Devmon MATH

Is anyone using MATH in devmon templates?? I'm trying to calculate percent memory used for a couple of Windows 2000 servers and I'm getting: "Error(s) while parsing 'PhysMemUsed' on xxxxxx" The transforms file contains this: PhysMemUsed : MATH : {PhysMemSize} - {PhysMemFree} PhysMemPerc : MATH : ({PhysMemUsed} / {PhysMemSize}) x 100 and the corresponding OIDS are: PhysMemSize : 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.1.0 : leaf PhysMemFree : 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.2.0 : leaf If I report PhysMemFree & PhysMemSize in the report message, I get sensible values. For example, right now they show 471 & 1152, so PhysMemUsed would be 681 and PhysMemPerc would be 59%. I get the above error message, and PhysMemPerc is displayed as "Parent data missing". "ports" netstat output too long

Hi, Hobbit is reporting the following error message from time to time: Oversize status msg from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:ports truncated (n=296523, limit=262144) What is the preferred way to handle this? Can I simply add "| head -n xyz" to the netstat command or will this falsify some statistics in Hobbit? Remote bbtest-net and Info report.

All, I am setting up a remote server that just runs bbtest-net. This will be performing network test in the DMZ. The remote bbtest-net is sending in reports to the internal Hobbit server. The only area I see where my user may have confusion is the INFO report. The way I have configured monitoring is the the device name is the URL being tested, i.e. www.example.org. I have a HTTP & SSLCERT report being genrated and reported into the Internal Hobbit server. The INFO report is being created on the Internal Hobbit server, and thus being resolved to an internal IP. Now the tests are running in the DMZ, and resolving & testing the DMZ IP. Now knowing what the external DMZ IP address being tested would be great, but I would settle for the Internal Hobbit server seeing the NET: tag, and not putting the internal resolved IP in the INFO report. Thoughts ? ~Steve

Log file monitoring

I have a question about log file monitoring. I have a file that i am expecting to see the word "SIP" and if it is not there then I would want to be paged and have it go red. But the only thing I can find is to have it MATCH a certain phrase. Josh
