I was wondering how you know what to set your thresholds at for the primary and secondary stats. I assume it has something to do with the size of the server but is there a way to calculate it. Like I have 8 gig of ram and 4 sparc processors so is there a way to calculate these variables for the bmio column. Thanks, Josh

Aha! It seems I made two mistakes (specifically for this problem, never mind the rest of life): 1. The defaults line should be configured thus: 0.0.0.0 .default. # [insert default tests here] 2. You cannot specify network tests in the defaults line. My question now becomes: What defines a network test? This is not as stupid as it sounds, I am looking at an email sent to this distribution list back in 2005 where it is said: the default entries can only be used for some of the tags that you can put in the bb-hosts file, and NOT for the network tests. Those that you can put in a default section are those that are not host- or test-specific: dialup, nobb2, nodisp, DESCR, TRENDS, NK, NKTIME, WML, NOPROP*, REPORTTIME, WARNPCT, NET, nosslcert, ssldays, DOWNTIME, noping, noconn, trace, notrace, depends. Surely noconn is a network test (or rather, a negation of one). Also, I don't really understand what a non-host-specific or non-test-specific entry is. Hi all, I am monitoring a number of servers that have ssh running on them. In my bb-hosts file on the Hobbit 4.2.0 server I have the following entries for it: .default defaultsettings # testip pulldata ssh 10.44.85.246 cin0.lon.server.com # The problem is that the ssh connection is only tested when the Hobbit server is started up. I've trawled through the Hobbit logs but can't find any mention of any errors (or actual tests for that matter). Feature request: find [Page-title] [group-title]

"Find Host" is limited to hostnames. It would be useful to have a find for [Page-title] and [group-title] names. We have people who may not remember a hostname, but remember a description related to a host or group of hosts that they want to see. There may be other text that is displayed that people would find useful to search for. Thanks, John

I am trying to get the bb-prtdiag.sh script to work on a couple of Solaris boxes and didn't know if I could get some help from someone in the forum that has it up and running. BBWin trouble

I am having a problem with ONE Windows 2003 server running BBWIN v0.9. This server runs the Blackberry Enterprise Server, and ever since we updated to v4.1 of the BES software BBWIN causes 100% CPU utilization and SQL server issues. I remember the old BBNT service could occasionally cause troubles when checking for CPU utilization, due to poor instrumentation of modules on a particular server. I have disabled CPU checking on BBWIN, but the problem still occurs. Should I try disabling other modules? I am most interested in checking disk space, services, and events. Need info: National holidays

One of the new things in Hobbit 4.3 is that it can handle alerts happening on holidays. These will also show up on the "info" column page. To make this easy, I need some information about the holidays in each country. I already have code to handle the Christian holidays (Easter, Whit Monday, Christmas) - e.g. these are the holidays I have listed in my "common" section for 2008: New Year 01/01 Good Friday 21/03 Easter Monday 24/03 Ascension Day 01/05 Whit Monday 12/05 Christmas Eve 24/12 Christmas Day 25/12 New Year's Eve 31/12 I also have specific entries for the US, Germany and Denmark - see http://www.hswn.dk/hobbit-cgi/viewconf.sh?holidays for the current configuration. So if you're from France, Italy, Australia, Japan or some other country and you would like to have Hobbit pre-loaded with your national holidays, send me a list of which days are holidays. If you can do it in the form of the configuration file it would be brilliant, but if not then just describe to me what days should be included. Hi Etienne, I know you were looking for suggestions on how we should use the "who" service, and I was wondering if we could have a similar layout of the citrix script. I think the citrix script runs a command called "query session".
