I had a bb-host entry that looked like the following: 128.210.003.177 zorn.math.purdue.edu # \ bbd ntp ssh smtp imaps pop3s \ http://hobbit.math.purdue.edu/ \ https://helpdesk.math.purdue.edu/ \ TRENDS:vmstat:vmstat2|vmstat3|vmstat6|vmstat7|\ vmstat8|vmstat9|vmstat0,\ netstat:netstat0|netstat1|netstat2|netstat3 In the above format I would not get vmstat[8,9,0] TRENDS but I would get the netstat TRENDS. DNS resolution duration

Here is a normal day in the world of Hobbit DNS resolution... DNS statistics: # hostnames resolved : 17 # succesful : 17 # failed : 0 # calls to dnsresolve : 31 DNS lookups completed 1202826251.058136 0.072268 But now when there is a problem reaching the DNS server (I have two in /etc/resolv.conf) it spikes up to... DNS lookups completed 1202825989.913910 40.001908 Is there any way to set the DNS resolution timeout to something smaller? Has anyone tried running bind9 on the Hobbit box itself and having it hold cache locally? I have had two instances where Hobbit failed to resolve DNS for a completely unknown reason, even while the DNS test on the two hosts stay green! What I hope to accomplish is finding the reasoning behind these DNS failures. It will fail to resolve several unrelated domains (different NS servers all together). My real confusion, though, it that Hobbit is asking the same two boxes in /etc/resolv.conf for several domains - some of which resolve, when some don't! Thanks in advance! I recently ask this question and got a slap down from some people. I just ignored the response and wrote it off to %$*)*&&. I then saw the following on the wiki FAQ. Q. When is the next version going to be released? A. When it's ready, and not before. Now stop asking. It wastes Henrik's time answering this question. If he didn't have to constantly answer this question, the next version would be here sooner. I would like to say cut the shit and answer like civilized human beings and not geek assholes we are so commonly stereo typed as. To some the question might seem to be just another nagging email, but to me it was asked so that I could make some plans in my hobbit upgrade. bbgen using full CPU

I have a problem after using the all-in-one patch. ( Last updated: 2007-02-09 10:30 UTC ). The bbgen ps takes the entire CPU and seemingly never stops. I've watched it take all the free CPU time for a good fifteen minutes now. I got the server running with the packages necessary. I got the 4.2.0(release) up and running. Later, I applied the patch and redid a make && make install as hobbituser and root respectively. Once Hobbit is started again, the bbgen ps takes over the CPU. Anyone know where I should begin to look for the problem? I found I got this error when the environment variables passed in were not being set. Ive got this error to so stayed with older version). Today I tried some more debugging. Set awk to be gawk ; this poiont to line 210. This code is cpu temp. Ive not found whats wrong yet (I suspected it my SUN system not patched up to date). I turned the temperature test off (CHECK_TEMPERATE=N and it now runs

Server not checking apache server-status

I added this host: 74.x.x.x host.imaginenetworksllc.com # ssh dns apache= http://74.x.x.x/server-status?auto http://host.imaginenetworksllc.com I have had all of those tests there except the apache= and they've worked just fine. I just added the apache= test and it does show up at the bottom of the info page, but I never see the test result show up on the bb.htmlpage What am I doing wrong? Port check from server

Is it possible to test a TCP port on a remote machine with the Hobbit server? I have some applications that can't be tested with anything standard (HTTP, SMTP, etc). I'm just looking for a basic acknowledgement that the TCP port is listening on the host being monitored.
