Config report(critical) not working with critical systems (nkview.cfg), but NK tags

I am moving to the Critical Systems view, however, to ensure that all the critical systems are in fact on the Critical Systems view, I was hoping to use the Config report (critical), and refer teams to the reports for their pages/servers. However, I always get empty reports, while the normal Config report has the correct values (from nkview.cfg) in the NK column for the correct host/test. The source code for hobbit-confreport.c shows that it filters based on the NK tag from bb-hosts when run with the --critical option. This is quite a big issue, I can't give everyone edit access, and there's no other really feasible way to audit this at present. hobbit problem

Hello All, I just installed hobbit a while ago and I've been having some problems. It seems that a few times a day my first 8 or so hosts in the bb-hosts file go red for conn (which is all I test for). I already tried setting the concurrency for bbtest-net to a lower number, which didn't help. The really odd part is as soon as conn goes red, I check and it says it's been that way for 15-20 polls. It seems like the history is somehow getting corrupted or the ping isn't being done right? Could anyone help me out? Thanks, ~Pete

The latest version of hobbit.

I am running hobbit 4.1.2p1. I want to upgrade to the latest stable version. I found versions of hobbit on www.hswn.dk and sourceforge. Where do I get the latest stable version of hobbit? Are there patches that have to be added to this version or is there a version with the patches already? What is the latest version? I have been using bb then hobbit for many years and have found it excellent. There is another department that is looking into nagios monitoring software. They are willing to monitor other departments hosts if we want. Looking at their web page I see a lot of eye candy reports and they look cluttered but that is just looking at the screen shots. I personally like hobbit's simple interface. Has anyone else looked at nagios and why did you prefer hobbit over nagios? Just wondering. How to set -R option when compiling

I have been playing with RPATH to try and force the use the -R in the load and it does not seem to work for me. Can someone help me out? How and what do I need to do to set and where get this to take affect? Sorry if this is a trivial question but I just do not see the answer. Hi all, I am new to hobbit, and am still finding my feet. Can anyone sugest how I can monitor external websites eg www.google.co.uk I did some searching and found bb-checkweb, but there is no documentation. I have added the .pl script to the ext directory and added the required files to etc as well. I have just amended the hobbitlaunch.cfg with [bb-checkweb] ENVFILE /usr/libexec/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg CMD $BBHOME/ext/bb-checkweb.pl LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/bb-checkweb.log INTERVAL 1m How do I use it now? Any other help with webmonitoring would be great. Paul

Hi Henrik, you wrote that we can use CLASS=... in hobbit-alerts.cfg (see your attached email). But what is the right way to use this tag in hobbit-alerts.cfg? [hobbit] Best way to monitor server in a DMZ ? or remote LAN ?

I like the idea of having a hobbit server inside a DMZ just to monitor the servers inside the DMZ. I am sure that between the network firewalls and the iptables and other tools available in a Linux server, that you can make sure that the public cannot see the hobbit server but let admins inside your network see the web pages. Alerts might be more of a problem but should be doable with proper firewall rules. The bbproxy facility may make it easier to get the firewall stuff set right. devmon & hobbit graphs issue

Didn't know if anyone in this group would have any ideas on this: I saw an implementation in routermon and was wondering if I could do this in devmon. I saw a routermon page in hobbit that shows the columns like if_stat, if_load... And on the if_load page was a table just like the devmon table except the page built by routermon had another column in the table with a graph link in it. So that when I click on a if_load page for say my 6509 I don't get a page that is so long it isn't funny. This is what is in my 6509: Slot 1 - 48 port 10/100/1000 Slot 2 - 48 port 10/100/1000 blade Slot 3 - 10 GE module Slot 4 - 10 GE module Slot 7 - 48 port sfp module Slot 8 - 48 port sfp module Slot 9 - 24 port sfp module I can't remember how many ports are in my 10GE modules but when you are graphing a lot of those ports because they are uplinks to switches and dwdm equipment it makes for a page that takes a little bit to load. And I saw a page setup with routermon in that fashion and didn't know if this was feasible to do in devmon. I am trying to find the page I saw the routermon setup in, so that I can contact that person and see how they did it. But figured if it could be done with routermon than it could be done with devmon. File include in hobbit-clients?
