Solaris 10 Sparc bb-prtdiag.sh V4_10 When I run bb-prtdiag.sh I get the following error in the bb-prtdiag.log file. awk: syntax error near line 1 awk: bailing out near line 1 I added "-x" to bb-prtdiag.sh and can see where the awk command is erroring. I have seen reference to these errors in the archive but have not seen any resolution. If you have seen this error in bb-prtdiag.sh what did you do to resolve? test server-side script from hobbit server

I am trying to test a server side script from the hobbit server and want it to use the Hobbit Environment variables. I know how to do it on the clientside just not on the serverside. Thanks Josh

Hi Guys; No offense to Tim for his suggestion on making Hobbit work with Leopard. The above code will only find local users, but I think that this is probably a best practice for Hobbit. Additionally, the above should work for 10.4 (Tiger) and 10.5 (Leopard) and onwards. Ping works, but fping and hobbitping do not work

We've been using fping in Hobbit for connectivity testing for years. But an interesting problem has arisen. There is one address for which the connectivity test fails, but, from the network tester, I can manually ping the address, but a manual fping (or hobbitping) fails. Anyone have an idea why this would be the case? Eric Jacobs

Hi, I'm running a fresh install of Hobbit 4.2.0 on a fresh Linux 2.6. I have noticed a couple of errors after a log rotation : First error is this : 2008-02-05 13:40:41 Could not start task bbretest using command '/home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/bbretest-net.sh': No such file or directory 2008-02-05 13:41:43 Could not start task bbretest using command '/home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/bbretest-net.sh': No such file or directory 2008-02-05 13:42:45 Could not start task bbretest using command '/home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/bbretest-net.sh': No such file or directory 2008-02-05 13:43:45 Could not start task bbretest using command '/home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/bbretest-net.sh': No such file or directory -> Normal, there is no "bbretest-net.sh" around, is this issue famous around ? Is there a way to get "bbretest-net.sh" ? hobbit-clients.cfg - Handling FILE rules

Heya, Just been playing around with doing some FILE monitoring and having issues with its processing order or its ignoring a host I want a different setting for. Originally I defined the FILE checks in the default section with the host1.acme.com above it but it wasn't working so I tried setting a HOST=* one and putting it under there but I still get the same thing. I have used it in the past for defining different proc checks for hosts, different loads, and different disk usage on partitions but never for FILE before. Basically want host1.acme.com to either not care about files at all or make them 755 and all other hosts to be 644 for gcc and make (non exec) Can someone point me in the direction of what I might be doing wrong as I THINK what I'm doing is right. Below is the config that I'm currently using. I am able to define other checks under host1.acme.com and they work fine. HOST=host1.acme.com FILE /usr/bin/make MODE=755 FILE /usr/bin/gcc MODE=755 HOST=* PROC ntpd PROC cron FILE /usr/bin/make MODE=644 FILE /usr/bin/gcc MODE=644 DEFAULT # These are the built-in defaults. CPU utilization on main view

Hi all, Is there a way to monitor CPU utilization instead of CPU load (hobbit-client.cfg)? Actually I would like to have this "cpu" on the main view ("current status") site. How can I do that? ip and hostname on overview page

Hi, I would like the bb overview page to show both IP address and hostname for a given host, as entered in bb-hosts (instead of just showing the hostname). I have been looking through the man pages but have failed to find out how to do this. Perhaps by inserting one of the global variables into hobbitserver.cfg? Regards, Magnus

setting up ldaps

I want to monitor our ldaps servers and also want to get the ssl certificate notification. In the bb.host file I have set the following. ldap://ldaphost.math.purdue.edu/ - returns green ldaps://ldaphost.math.purdue.edu/ - returns failed I am trying to track down why ldaps is failing. I have looked in the hobbit log files and do not see any error messages. Where can I find the command that is used to poll the secure port for ldaphost?
