Building server on OSX 10.5.5

The hobbit page contains a lot of sensitive information how would one go about securing it with passwords or ssl? Or both? fix to 4.2.0 uid and gid checking

I attempted to use FILE uid and gid checking in hobbit-clients.cfg. I ran into the same problem listed below on an e-mail dating back to 2007. There was not a thread that showed a correction to the problem so I search your source code for the problem. I found it in the module client_config.c. In your original 4.2.0 code, the +8 below were +6.

Hobbit: Hobbitping/Fping

Hi All, I have a couple of linux servers which are behind a firewall and needs to be monitored. I have allowed the port 1984 for flow of data from the client servers to the hobbit server, and i get all the data fine. However, I do not get to see a green for "conn", all i see is a '-'. This i typically understand is the hobbitping or the fping utility. Do these utilities work along with bbtest-net or individually? And if Yes, which ports needs to be allowed and from where to where..? If not, which port does hobbitping or fping use? At this point the firewall is opened for normal ping i.e, hobbit server can ping the linux clients. Quick info on my network. Hobbit server ip - 192.168.50.100 Other Linux/Unix servers are in the 192.168.50.* network. Linux servers behind the firewall, have a 10.* ip assigned, which at the firewall is natted to a 192.168.50.* ip. (these are typically the DMZ servers) Any help would be greatly appreciated. blue and ack email

Anybody got a clever trick to send an email when a service is disabled or an alert is ack'd? I tried putting blue in the hobbit-alerts file, but it doesn't seem to like that much. :-) Jon

Universal init script

I have improved the init script that comes from Debian, Red Hat, etc. It finds out where the hobbit installation is by finding the home directory of the hobbit user. The username is set in a variable, making it very easy to for the user. Also it has a working status check. I have tested this on Ubuntu 7.10 and Solaris 10. Problem to check logs with Hobbit

Hello, I've posted a couple of month but after hours & hours of tests, I still can't check logs with Hobbit. I'm running a Hobbit server on Linux Ubuntu and a Hobbit client with 'client side configuration' on Ubuntu or RHEL. On my client computer called "Suspendisse" : $ cat localclient.cfg ... # LOG LOG /var/log/messages MARK COLOR=RED ... $ For this example, I will go get a red alert when a "MARK" Then, on my Hobbit server called "Fusce" : $ cat hobbit-clients.cfg ... HOST=Suspendisse LOG /var/log/messages MARK COLOR=RED ... $ That's what I've read on the Hobbit man page but it doesn't work. The log doesn't appear on my Hobbit web pages. What I'm doing wrong ?
