Has anyone managed to get the client built under Snow Leopard? What I’m doing seems pretty straightforward, but the build fails. I run `./configure --client`, answer the questions, then `make` and it bombs. maint mode from command line

Hi, Is there a way to issue a command to put a list of servers into maint mode instead of having to select them from the GUI? bb-snapshot - apache error 500...

Hi! I've got a problem with apache2 giving me a 500 error when I try to run a snapshot report... I'm running on a Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit platform and XYmon 4.3.0 svn rev. 6177... The errorl in the web-browser is: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster at localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. Hi! I've still got this problem, but now it has moved in to my live server... I upgraded to latest Ubuntu 9.10 today, and I've been running Xymon from the repo install which upgraded it from Hobbit 4.2 to Xymon 4.3 beta2 (been waiting for this...). Need Help Setting up Two PAGERS/DISPLAYS/Xymon Servers

Hello; I am trying to setup 2 now, possibly up to 4 later, Xymon servers. Each server would be located at one of several data centers, each would be receiving data from clients located at their own sites. I am trying to eliminate having to go to each Xymon server individually for data and was wondering if perhaps there is a better way to show reports for the others? I've read this: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/System_Monitoring_with_Xymon/Administration_Gu… Unfortunately this doesn't explain how it was done, especially the bbproxy part, nor how to configure my clients (BBWin, and various unixes, and a few Cisco devices later). By the way, I have a test XP workstation with BBWin and IP's for two of my Xymon servers, one is showing no data at all for this workstation. Finally, I am of course very interested in holding a setup that does not page/email/alert for each other, except for when the other/peer is down? Thank you all in advance, .vadim

xymon pluggin not working on server

I had a problem with xymon server (lost power while upgrading to Ubuntu9.10) and I had to re-install from scratch the OS. That part was easy enough, but I tried to keep all the history data, and I copied the folders into the new install. Today I realized that the folders have not been updated since I rebuilt the server because of wrong permissions, so I changed the owner to hobbit:hobbit as the other folders have, and the permission to 755. In my Ubuntu install the files are located in /var/lib/hobbit The folders I did this are: hist, histlogs, hostdata, rrd. I discover this today trying to figure out why the client is not working on the server. Fixing the permissions, fix my history reports (though I will have 36 days of no reports), but still the client information for the xymon server is not showing up, and neither are the extra scripts. With the client information I mean CPU, Disk, memory, apt. It looks like if the client was not reporting to the server (which should be localhost). I could not find how to check it out. I know how to configure BBWin since most of my network computers are Windows, but don't know much about the linux client, and it has always worked from the default install for me. Alerts failed to post by XYMON

Hi, I have configured XYMON and monitoring part it is very good, But it is not acknowledging the mentioned alerts. The configuration I have given in ~/server/etc/hobbit-alerts.cfg file is as follows. HOST=osiosi.osius.com MAIL skalluru at osius.com REPEAT=1m SERVICE=cpu,disk But it is not posting any mail to the given mail address. Please help me to overcome this issue. I'm about to undertake writing a series of monitors for a custom app we have here in-house. This app lives over a networked filesystem (think cvfs or gpfs) that is managed by two master nodes, a master and a failover. As a result, only one node at a time can answer the query I want to give it. My conundrum: If I make the query form my Xymon server on node1 and it fails over to node2, node1 becomes completely unable to answer the question, and that check would go "red". Same for node2 back to node1. If I run the check locally on each system, while one is working, the other will go "blue". Have any of you ever written monitors for servers that carry a service in an active/passive configuration, and been able to keep the individual servers from going into some strange state as a result of failovers and such?
