can from address be configured for xymon alerts?

hi, can "from " address be configured for xymon alerts?i want to send xymon alert mails from "xymon at monitor.mgmt.machines" address.But is is sending alerts from xymon(a)`hostname`.There is no flag/variable that accepts for from address.I dont want to change my servers sendmail configuration.I want to change configuraion from xymon side.Also i am getting dsn erros. I dont want to change hostname of the machine as it might take machine's name from /etc/hosts. What is the way to do that? -- ion. Pankaj V. Dorlikar

monitoring servers in multiple networks

Dear Madam, Sir In our company we want to monitor multiple pc's/servers that are at different physical locations. Normally we connect to them trough a vpn-connection to get into the Local network. The problem is that when you open a vpn connection you can't open a different one and so only monitor one network at a time. Alert Annotations

Are there any plans to add the ability to annotate alerts? I know that it's possible to add notes when we send acknowledgements, but I would prefer to add notes to historical alerts. I've actually written an add-on in Perl that does exactly this. My preference though would be to use something built in. I'll upload my add-on to xymonton if anyone else is interested in trying it. -- Chris Naude

Installing Xymon 4.2.3 on Debian

Hello, I have an older version of hobbit running on a debian build at home (hobbit 4.2.0). I have installed rrdtool using the apt-get. However when I run the configure script I get *RRDTool include- or library-files not found. These are REQUIRED for hobbitd RRDTool can be found...........* ** Any ideas on where I can locate rrdinclude and rrdlib in debian 5.0.3? Thank You, Gary

Hi, I'm trying to get the download option working (get_binary in the code). This seems to work successfully for the first time you download. However, any subsequent downloads only create a zero-sized file. Is this a known bug? The similar function (get_config) works flawlessly but obviously doesn't work with binary files. File from client causing hobbitd_client to crash

I am running Xymon 4.2.3, and a file I am trying to grab from a monitored host seems to be causing hobbitd_client to crash. The file is a textfile generated by an internal proprietary application. disk alert for sun cluster global device

Hobbit Server Crash

Just now, 1 week before scheduled update of our Hobbit server to Xymon our hobbit server died. The only thing I know that was new at the time of the crash was an vbs script sending MSMQ counters along with it's status message, it was an old script but we just added a new counter. Anyway, it seems hobbitd doesn work now, it's version 4.2.0 and you probably want me to upgrade immediatly but I still find this strange... It's worked for years and suddenly now it dies? Anyway, I've found the following rummaging through the logs and core In Hobbitlaunch.log Task hobbitd terminated by signal 6 In Hobbitd.log 2009-12-04 13:01:08 Setup complete GDB of the core warning: Can't read pathname for load map: Input/output error. Reading symbols from /usr/lib/libpcre.so.3...done. Loaded symbols for /usr/lib/libpcre.so.3 Reading symbols from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6...done.
