I sent this out 12/4/2009 and got no responses. Can anyone guide me in the correct direction? I also have another request: If I have 10 windows servers that reboot every night between 3-3:30am and I don't want to notify, and wake up, during this timeframe, would I require multiple hobbit-alerts.cfg entries for that server? Of the following lines, which will function correctly? Can I have multiple TIME= options on the HOST= line? Also, does the server understand 0000 = midnight? Or 2400? HOST=def.com SERVICE=conn RECOVERED TIME=*:0000:0300 TIME=*:0330:2359 MAIL .... OR - Would this also be acceptable? msgs service

Hi, Is it possible to create a seperate msgs columns for a different log files? I mean in an easy way, without custom ext scripts. For instance under default "msgs" column goes all the system logs, but under "msgs_app" goes some application logs.

la.rrd and users.rrd for one client no longer updated

Hello, since yesterday for one of my servers la.rrd and users.rrd are no lonfer updated. Xymon / Nagios interactivity ?

Hi all, I work in an very heterogeneous server farm. We are using a Nagios server to monitor a part of these servers, It is not possible to migrate Nagios to Xymon for the moment. I would like to know if someone have experienced interaction of xymon with nagios , is it possible to integrate some Nagios tests results in Xymon interface ? Regards, Fred.

I have a question about installing xymon. After installing the xymon, I have been unable to get the monitoring program up and running via the web browser in linux. We are running Centos 5.3. I copied the info from hobbit-apache.conf into the httpd.conf file but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Kevin

centralized configuration - external scripts

Hi guys, just like we use the file hobbit-clients.cfg to manage DISK, CPU, PROCS etc. for each client, we would like to have a centralized configuration for the external scripts. So far I tested two things: 1) Server-side check: bb-hosts entry (for the external scripts), additional code entry in the external scripts (for bbhostgrep), etc. Problem: this seems to work only with "Network checks" which will be done from Server-side to check the clients, like advanced ftp/ping/ssh script etc. It doesnt work for scripts, wich have to run on the clients, like mysql checks. 2) ONHOST: the entry ONHOST in the hobbitlaunch.cfg. Problem: this is not working for me... i tought with this entry Hobbit would be able to issue an order to the client and then execute the command in the client, but when looking into the logfiles, i see that Hobbit have to find the external script on the Hobbit-Server (i think its the same result as in Problem 1). I tought it would work as a "bb-bbextab"... but the MAN Pages says it has to be configured on the server.... So guys, do i have another way to manage this external scripts (which have to be run on the clients) in the Hobbit-Server? TIA, Cayo

Installin xymon on Solaris10

Hello, I installed xymon on linux--no problems. Now I was asked to install it on Solaris 10, no so easy.. I've run one time the "./configure.server" in the end there was a message about "not finding ar" so added the /usr/ccs/bin to the $PATH I deleted the MAKEFILE and run again the "/configure.server" I am getting this error message. "# MAKE=make ./configure.server Configuration script for Xymon This script asks a few questions and builds a Makefile to compile Xymon Checking your make-utility GNU make is required to build Xymon. If it is available as "gmake", run configure as: 'MAKE=gmake ./configure.server' " If I run the "make" again I am getting " make: Fatal error: No arguments to build" Any suggestions? Thanks Camelia

Clearing "errors in" on cisco 3500XL

Hi Guys, I am not sure if this is a devmon or hobbit question so I am mailing both parties. I am currently monitoring a Cisco 3500XL which is showing alot of "erros in" under the if_err section. When I clear the counters of the switch, everything returns to zero except "errors in" which still remains at the same level it was before clearing the counters. Does anybody know how to clear these values? Brian
